Brawler 64. A very expensive paperweight?

Hi everyone!

I come to y’all in the hopes of solving a mystery wrapped in a problem, wrapped in a guaranteed headache.

My incredible wife saw that I have been watching N64 gameplay videos on YouTube, and that all of them were using a Brawler 64 to play the first Mario 64 on the Switch (and even use it on a Mac or PC).

So, being the amazing person she is, she bought me one (quick sidebar: we live in a place that finding stuff online to deliver here is a f-ing nightmar). The controller is beautiful, the buttons really have that quality feeling.

Now onto the issue at hand: the model I have is this one: https://retrofighters.com/our-collection/brawler64-wireless-edition/

I understand that it is supposed to work with the n64 console, and that console ONLY. Still, my question is: is this thing even slightly useful for someone who doesn’t (and won’t) have a Nintendoo 64 console? Is it possible to use it on the switch? How the hell does pairing this stuff even works… Is it just a fancy N64 controller that just happens is also wireless?

I’m contemplating just outright buying a N64 3-pim connector to USB-A. Would it work on the switch?

You want the model of that controller called “Bluetooth NSO edition”. That one can connect to the Switch and also to PC. It looks like the one you have can only connect to N64, so see if you can return it

  2. You’re in a tough spot for sure. The Raphnet usb adapter is confirmed to work with the Brawler64, but it’s not compatible with Switch. Mayflash’s n64 usb adapter works with Switch but not the Brawler64. I’d expect most other adapters to fail as well.

Honestly I backed these on kickstarter and really like them so I’m sad you haven’t got a use for it but I’m sure you could get $25 or something for it on Marketplace worst case scenario.
