6 random duos for Legendary Gauntlet 12 [Pokemon Masters EX]

I’m (ideally) halfway through my goal for this rotation and I wanted to post some of the duos that I recorded. Most of these have units that I either recently got or recently raised the move level of, but some aren’t so there really isn’t any unifying theme here other than I wanted to show them lol.

Here’s how each battle went and the sync grids used:

Penny joins the ever-growing list of units that only applies rebuff with her first move (and her first sync at a higher move level), which means that if you wanna use her to counter Uxie’s Acute Senses, you can’t attack with her until Bar 2. That’s exactly what happens here, and thankfully she’s bulky enough to take all of Bar 1’s hits. She shares that bulk with Lodge Marnie, who definitely appreciates it since she’s Psychic-weak, and in return she provides accuracy debuffs to give Penny some lucky misses.

Tank Wikstrom sounded like a funny idea so I’m glad he pulled through haha. His Attack debuffs complement Diantha’s Sp Atk debuffs, and with Grass Guard he’s able to tank pretty well. I got Diantha to 5/5 from the Mix Scout but I only use her 4/5 grid here, but she really wants both of her 4/5 tiles to make this work. I’m not sure if I should have fished for more flinches, but I was already having trouble with gauge that I didn’t wanna risk it.

Lodge Jasmine is pretty much discount BP Clemont, which I guess is fitting considering their Pokemon. While her kit is a bit tame even when compared to her F2P peers, it’s just the right tools that Tate needs to pull off an Entei clear. Screech takes advantage of Entei’s lack of Defense debuff mitigation, Shocking Slowdown activates Tate’s Cakewalk, and Tate’s able to skip out on getting several entry skills from his grid thanks to Jasmine’s buffs.

Support Tauros makes the clear easier though with its speed buffs and paralysis. The more common duo partner I’m seeing in the leaderboard is Tech Electabuzz, which swaps out the speed buffs for more reliable paralysis.

Since I only have SS Leaf at 3/5, I brought Tech Nidoran along to emulate most of what she’s missing out from higher move levels, namely her offensive debuffs and her poison proc after mega. She still needs a bunch of MPRs to pull this off though.

SS Hilbert has the funny dilemma of being super-effective against Entei while also being weak to Fire, so I paired him with Mesprit so that he can survive multiple AOE Fire-type moves through its shields and sustain. Mesprit’s bulky enough to outlast the trap and burn too. Not sure if Toughen Up and Tighten Up from its 2/5 grid are strictly necessary but they make this a lot more straightforward.
