I’m really sorry this happened to you, losing progress stinks!

To play devils advocate, I’ve never heard of transferring the secondary user to a new switch copy. Sounds like you aren’t the island creator, which is a huge deal in terms of getting cloud saves.

You can’t really blame Nintendo support for following their rules, and how acnh handles cloud saves. Be sure to do more research next time

  2. It’s not as trivial as it seems. Animal Crossing did something really awful in that game where they made it so that each island is linked to a specific Switch console rather than allowing each profile to have its own island. There’s always a solution to problems like this if the developers want there to be one, but it’s not always easy. It is possible they have the save data, but that they might not be to move it to a new console without causing problems on the old one. It’s an online game, after all. They can’t leave a duplicate behind on the old console. It’s really unfortunately that the game designers for Animal Crossing New Horizons decided to take this approach. I recall seeing tons of warnings on social media letting people know that the game did not allow for having different islands on different profiles on the same console. It was a big let down for a lot of people.

If you wanted the character… isn’t that relatively easy to transport?

I thought transporting Island stuff was tedious, but transporting characters was simple?

Why didn’t you just start up a new island with a throw away character and then transfer the old character over?

I could have sworn it was like this in old games…? Then again, I’ve only played Wild World… I think.

EDIT: Wait, are characters tied to User Accounts? Okay, that’s a little more messed up.

Just contact them again and tell then the switch is damaged and unusable and you want to transfer the file?
