If you are anxiously waiting for the follow up to DKC Tropical Freeze, grab Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair while it’s $3 on Switch

DKC Tropical Freeze is my favorite game on Switch, and I saw the deep discount on both Yooka Laylee games.

I played a few levels last night of Impossible Lair and it definitely scratches that itch and plays similarly to Donkey Kong. The design, movement, and most importantly to me, the fantastic music that just gives such an awesome vibe to some great platforming. I also learned the following looking up information about the game online:

>Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair was developed by Playtonic Games, a studio composed of former Rare employees

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a tight platformer with pretty large levels, lots of secrets, and some tough challenges that uses the DK “roll” mechanic in traversal and also taking out enemies. Especially for three bucks!

I would even say it’s a better DKC than Tropical Freeze.

  2. DKC:TF is my favorite game on switch by far so I’m glad I saw this! I’ll be giving it a try later, thanks again 👍🏼

Add: Ok, this game is awesome and it’s extremely obvious it was heavily inspired by Tropical Freeze in all aspects. Thanks so much for finding this!

Agreed! It’s a phenomenal game. I downloaded it and played through every level (I have not found a few secret exits to get the last 6 bees I need). I’m torn on the final level though. Is it hard to the point of unbalance? I think it might be. It’s frustrating because I don’t get the satisfaction of beating it.

Hows the original yooka laylee? Its on sale for $4. I usually like a traditional collectathon

*Kaze and the Wild Masks* is a DKC-like 2D platformer that’s pretty decent, too.

It’s great! IMO it feels the most like the original DKC games of any 2d platformer I’ve played. It helps that some of the people who made DKC worked on it.

I hope people aren’t anxiously waiting for something that’s not been announced. That’s a long period of intense anxiety.

Impossible Lair is a fun game. I didnt care for the characters or graphics and the final level is brutal. Still fun for DKC fans.

It’s a really nice game but the load times for the over world, and levels are quite long, it killed my mood to play the game, if you have another platform to play the game I’d recommend doing so.

Great game but you’ll probably never finish it. Last level is tough. Solid title though

The only thing I didn’t like in it was that the final level was insanely more difficult than the rest of the game. I could beat it but it took me a lot of time.

I sincerely tried this game but I found it clunky and not as intuitive. And the load times were wild on my end. Cozy Grove is pretty bad but this tested my patience. I’m glad though that other people are finding joy in it!

Pretty good game, but except for the last level, sadly a bit too easy. But I loved the hubworld riddles 🙂
