Going the Sega route seems a bit unnecessary unless they’re just bored. Perhaps having their games available on Windows is hurting console sales.
A partnership with ninty isn’t at all surprising considering the whisperings of backdoor deals for the past 6 years.

Doesn’t surprise me tbh. XSX is a horrible console. May as well cut your losses and go software/gamepass only
EpsilonOrpheon
No they’re not! Mods stop allowing this crap to be posted over and over.

If that’s true then perhaps Elder Scrolls 6 will be on PS5 after all!
Sweet-Sale-7303
Technically buying Activision they had to do this with some games right?

How reputable is Twisted Voxel? I’ve never heard of it.

I’m okay with either direction. To go 3rd party or not.

Offering games a year or more after they’ve been exclusive to your console isn’t about going third party—it’s about maximizing profits, especially when the games cost hundreds of millions of dollars.
Sufficient-Yoghurt46
That’s what happens when you sell 20M consoles.
Guys, remember, MSFT’s strategy going back to the mid 80s was acquiring DOS, and licensing it to Windows. They acquired Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and all of the rest of the apps you think were ‘brilliant ideas’ by Gates. Pretty much everything MSFT has ever done has been an acquisition. Them turning Xbox 3rd party makes perfect sense. Why bother competing against Sony and Nintendo when you can just ship all these damn games to hundreds of millions of PCs and Consoles.

I won’t do game pass mobile , so if I can’t have a dedicated box to download games, i won’t have game pass and Nintendo and Sony won’t allow game pass at least as of today,so I don’t see Microsoft getting out of the console race.
trainercatlady
I’ve been thinking they should do this for a while
rusty022
If this does end up being the case, you have to imagine Sony and Nintendo will want a particular type of Game Pass on their consoles. They’ll demand a cut of the $15 monthly subscription. And they’ll need to evaluate whether or nt it’s worth having that compeittion on their console.
If I have a PS5, why buy Skyrim when I have it on Game Pass on my PS5?
I’m not sure how successful this would be for Microsoft. They better really improve their first party offerings to get me to pay full price or pay for a subscription to their games.
Greaseman_85
Lol that’s not happening anytime soon. This sub is beyond hilarious.

All I want is Rare Replay, Killer Instinct and 60fps Perfect Dark.

Fable trilogy on the switch would be an instant sell for me, or maybe the first Forza Horizon could work well on switch but idk about re-releasing the old ones

It’s strange to hear the concept of Microsoft “going third party” when their whole PC space almost exclusively third party, and still windows dominated. I more wonder if by “going third party” they’ll look to solicit devices from the usual suspects (Dell, HP, Asus, whatever) to build hardware in various combinations with Xbox branding which they then license Windows (maybe in a console-like form) out to.
Would be an interesting way to keep the Xbox in the living room and maybe even help with getting things like Steam on the same device. Yes, echos of the Steam Machines here.

It would be best. They suck at naming their consoles and they havnt had first party games in a while
Smiddy23
But they can’t actually make games? Bought dozens of studios and have released like 5-6 games a year, of which very few have stood out….
Substantial-North136
Microsoft made their fortune on software. My theory is they want game pass subscribers on all devices without having to sell (hardware at a loss) to do so.

It seems the only people who have a current gen (not including Series S) Xbox have it for one of three reasons.
– Brand Loyalty
– Friends on Xbox
– Don’t want to lose their gamerscore
I don’t see a single person who’s ever genuinely said the Xbox exclusives make them purchase the console as Xbox doesn’t seem to be able to keep up anymore. Their exclusives are received very poorly, they had a good thing with gamepass until Sony undercut them and with a better catalogue.

Remember Nintendo vs Sega? I think Microsoft are slowly realizing that they’re the Sega in this situation. And Xbox can thrive with Microsoft’s bank but not with Xbox’s bank. Them buying Activision was likely initially a way to have an edge on Sony but since the regulations have made them keep COD a Playstation game and even Nintendo, I think Microsoft are going to focus on game development and possibly make a next gen system but after that, I predict they’ll fade away from the console scene and simply make games like Sega does. Who can blame them? Sony are a corporation but their systems have innovative features.

This isn’t a anti xbox comment I think what Xbox did for gaming during the Xbox 360 times was amazing but times are changing. I am hoping Nintendo have a powerful Switch 2 / Pro / Whatever is next because Sony obviously needs some competition and if we have a console capable of running atleast Ps4 versions of games then Nintendo would finally be competition.

Put gamepass on PS5, the ultimate console at that point.

So should I buy a Xbox or better wait and see what happens? Lmao I was about to

so basically like Sega in the final years of the Dreamcast

Starfield is ass and will probably be ported along with Call of Duty and the online pirate game.

As much as I love my Xbox, this is definitely a way to make their hardware lose value. Why would I buy the Next Xbox when their exclusive are coming to other platforms? Especially if the hardware itself doesn’t offer anything New in comparison to their competitors (like the switch hybrid nature, for example).
redditdude68
Putting all these rumours aside, Microsoft need to go all in on either keeping all their games exclusive, or just going third party and releasing every game on everything. Going this route of half arsing the third party route is going to kill the Xbox hardware brand (if it isn’t already dead in the water).
MistStepThrowTrap
I honestly can’t think of a worse scenario for people who enjoy playing video games, than there being One Console Only, with a last-gen side-grade of Nintendo not competing on the side.
Faelysis
Make sense. As console sellers, they’ve been in the bottom for the last 10 year and their exclusive game really have difficulty to stay at the top. Even the GP is not doing that great. They may said +30M user but it’s divided on 3 platforn (X1, Xsx and PC). They are in need of player. Xbox division has been losing way more money that making profit too
RoxSpirit
Nintendo, please stay away from Microsoft, it’s the most cancerous company.

This just shows how desperate Microsoft is and how they are losing to the competition. Nintendo and Sony should pay them no mind and let them fall off.
