I’ve been playing around with exploding joy cons in resin. What do you guys think?

How do you set this up before pouring the resin?

  2. foreskrin

This is pretty cool imo. Do you do multiple stages of pouring the resin?

  3. CFL_lightbulb

I think this makes the control stick drift

  4. Intrepid_Medium8470

I want one. Maybe even one of every color.

  5. As not-an-expert, is it safe to encase a battery in resin?

  6. Odd_Ad5668

Looks cool as hell. I bet it drifts though.

  7. famename8

Pretty cool! I wonder what will happen to the resin when the battery inevitably swells.

  8. EzraStoneXXVII

I hope this is not a genuine battery. If so, this is a fire hazard to cast a battery in resin.

  9. To be honest, from an engineer perspective, you should have the assembly exploded to represent how the pieces are installed together. You don’t install the joystick into the assembly after the cover is placed, it’s not possible. But other than that, still pretty cool though.

It will be very difficult to play games with this joy con moving forward

Looks like when you pause the Nintendo ad

This is awesome! Would cool to accompany with an exploded axonometric line drawing as well.

I think resin looks dumb and tacky most places, but this is cool.

What’s your method to get it so clear? Sanding?

  15. That’s so beautiful. I would have it in my living room. There is a technique to get rid of bubbles with hot air gun. I don’t know how it’s working in layered themes though, since you have maintain distances. Heating it might make everything end in bottom. r/resin might know more and would appreciate it too.

Is it possible to stagger the parts horizontally as well? That way you can see each layer clearly no matter which face of the cast you’re looking through.

so, really curious about your process. Getting things to sit in place seems hard, unless you are layering each embedded layer upon solidified layers. When i have done work with resin, this caused a noticeable “phase” difference at the interface.
maybe there is such, but the photos are not showing much.

  18. To be completely honest I’d buy one. I’m sure a lot of fans and collectors would love to own one. Very well done by the way:).

My brain doesn’t even comprehend how you got them all floating like that

  20. Voided747

An entire switch (even switch lite) would be neato

If that’s a fake battery you should consider selling those
