I heard rumors that they had to scrap a lot of development because it was supposed to run on Unity? But then Unity went all greedy…

Not sure how true that is , but damn 5 years is a long time. I kinda even forgot this was even a game anymore lol.

I’ve stopped tracking or waiting for it (ironically like the original Hollow Knight or Darkest Dungeon 2), and will be pleasantly surprised one day when it drops.

I’m hoping in the meanwhile one of the several games that were inspired by the style end up being good enough to scratch the itch.

  3. Well Team Cherry said that they aimed to release it early last year but didn‘t for some reason.
That makes me hopeful that the game is in a very finished state and they‘re just adding more content, change some ideas or/and are polishing the game.
I can imagine that it will release some time this year.

Let them cook! Developing a sequel to a game as critically acclaimed and loved as Hollow Knight is such a monumental task. People don’t realize how much pressure that is. So many sequels fall short of what the first game achieved and they’re taking their time to make it as good as possible.

Plus their studio is well funded by the success of Hollow Knight so they’re probably not pressured by funding.

I look forward to playing this on the Switch 2

  6. Colorblindaru

And I’d be willing to wait 8 more if it means that they’ll release a product they’re satisfied with

  7. PeepsRebellion

And still till this day when I first glanced at this post my heart dropped thinking it was actual new info about the game.

Idc how long it takes since clearly they are cooking the best game of all time

No idea what’s taking this long, but makes me wonder if scope creep has just turned this game in to a spaghetti monster. Obviously I hope not, but not sure why else it would take this long

They can take the time they need, but it’s truly offensive to not provide the community updates on where they are at with development. Not even asking for regular updates, maybe twice a year a blog post and a couple screens. Just let me know it’s still alive

Goddamnit I saw the posts thumbnail and my heart skipped a beat.

The original keeps selling I suspect so they are kicking the can down the road because they don’t need to release it just yet.

As a Metriod Prime fan.. don’t come at me with 5 years. We’ve been waiting so long we forgot how long we’ve been waiting for Prime 4.

  13. roughi13

Maybe they’ll drop some more crazy stuff like multiplayer 👀

  14. DymonBak

Tomorrow’s the day we get a release date 🤡

If you guys want a good metroidvania while waiting for silksong try Prince of Persia the Lost crown, it’s as good as ori and hollow knight imo and better than Metroid dread

  16. Isn’t the dev team just 2 guys? I remember seeing that. That might have changed with success of HK but if that’s still the case, let those boys cook!

  17. tehnoodnub

Oh yeh, well I waited over 20 years for Star Fox 2 so this is a walk in park.

To be honest I‘m into more and more games taking their sweet time. These games tend to be polished and immersive on day one. Maybe that’s because I’m old now and have less time to game. I want that time spent with finished products and not just play through a beta version. Know what I mean?

  19. redgyarados21

From the Mario Rabbids 2 situation, we know Nintendo suggests companies to release one game per series each console. Maybe Cherry is taking good advice and waiting for Switch 2.

  20. _theNfan_

My guess is that the guys are just burned out and haven’t really done anything in a long time.

  21. Honestly I’m getting less and less hyped. The first Hollow Knight was already big enough. I don’t like the trend that developers think they have to make every sequel bigger and bigger.

  22. chocolateNacho39

Beyond overrated boring first game, dumb overhype for second game

  23. g4mer655

They’re waiting on me to finish the game

  24. eldamien

I’m in the “I’ll wait until it’s perfect” camp. I’d rather they take their time and put out something as flawless as Hollow Knight rather than rush it out to capitalize on the interest and end up releasing a subpar experience.

  25. fishing_meow

I misread the title and got exicited for a moment…

  26. Nickbronline

Maybe the real Hollow Knight: Silksong was the friends we made along the way

  27. I’d rather have a good game than a rushed game. Take as long as you need imo
