Zyonik made some good points. The problem isn’t so much that it is or isn’t a skill issue, the problem comes from the very fact that there is an algorithm that sullies the experience of battles
There is an algorithm. But if you beat it like the better or luckier players you will rank up. BUT with abb teams there will be a lot of baa teams to counter because everyone design teams the same
100% algorithm in this game. Almost every game I either win because I have the right lead and exact counters to their pokemon or I have a bad lead and they have exact counters to mine less than 1/5 battles are close that could go either way

I have to take the week off, because I refuse to build pokemon/teams I don't want or need for the long run. These double catch cup weeks are completely counter productive to how I play.

PVP needs to be reimagined. It's repetitive, and it seems like every time one person is positioned to win, and the other has no chance [thanks for proving this PokeAK]. Very rarely am I up against a fair match. Either I'm killing it, or I'm getting killed, no in between 😅

I think Niantic hid the rank of opponents so that when your on a streak they can freely pair you against higher ranked opponents

I have also noticed a persistent theme of metas, and I get it some pokemon hit harder than others, but type weaknesses are still a thing regardless of which pokemon it is, if it has a type strength or weakness over another than it's still advantageous.
Because of these metas, I always intentionally pick pokemon that wouldn't be "in the meta" but still have similar counter typing to what is in the meta it works regardless
Ikr ? Catch cup – the one that i hate the most in the gbl and keep on getting hard countered
Whenever i getting bad luck or whatever bad thing happen in gbl i just keep on saying 'retarded game'
I used to play tournaments earlier in 2021-22 it was fun to play but during rank push i can't rank up after veteran at last i fustrated ,as u mention it's not a totally skillful game
The thing is, just don't try to win everything. I personally use the GBL for stardust and rare candies, for which I win 4/5 battles three times a day and lose all the other battles on purpose. That way I get at least 9 rare candies, and keep my win rate under 50%, which gives you easier opponents. It just works, but then again, I'm not in it for the rating, maybe towards the end, because at some point, I had a win streak of 30
No one's denying the algo… but you should be able to team build and then use skill to win and won the mismatch… it takes skill and TEAM BUILDING.. teams that cover anyone's weaknesses… you get 6 types to use for defense and 9 for offense. Figure it out against the meta… like obvi there's an algorithm but why can't you over come it…
The GBL is garbage. People who defend it are those who don't want to admit they're given their wins

There's absolutely no fun in that.
I do get hard countered as well as get good matchups.
Lemme tell you something about this game.
We all do get rpsed , 3ple hard countered and sometimes extremely hard countered but instead of malding we try to :
In the rps matchup if u loose lead and loose swap make a play for some sort of shield or energy advantage and hope that ur 3rd mon can sweep.
In the hard countered game u will have to play nearly perfectly… try to read their team and identify ur win con , get energy lead or shield advantage, play aggressively, only way u can win 3ple hard countered matchup is by energy management or if opponent misplays.
In the extreme 3ple hard counter there is nothing you can do
To win more games try to use super meta mons with really good ivs and play perfectly ( like overfarm as much as possible everywhere u can and try to play for the CMP if u win or throw rite before they get there but by waiting a turn so that they can't catch),cmp sac, cmp on a different turn fast move, undercharge for more farm, try to catch ( depending on ur elo or the person's playstyle during 1st few seconds) like try to catch when they get to their move 1 above it 1 before u get to ur move or if it's like 2t vs 3t do 4 then wait a turn to catch,etc
In short
• Charge move timings
• Move counts for energy management and others
• Good meta team
• Know ur matchups
Try to learn and master these and use in next season, legend will be a walk in the park.
Found a very spicy team that went 9-0 with and then 1-9 afterwards, you could see them searching so hard to get a good counter team. Some of the weirdest, non meta counters. Unbelievable. I’m an older guy and it’s hard on my blood pressure.
I’ve lost a 1000 elo playing evolution cup and catch cup was 2300 elo now 1300😂
Stuff like this makes me glad im on a permanent hiatus for this game.

For many, GBL is the reason to grind so hard so keeping you at 50-60% leads to financial gain for niandik getting people to chase that just out of reach carrot. It's almost lawsuit material if you ask me. Especially when they toss in bots. No one names their account 97309487YIU()*& and stops attacking right when you do and starts when you do. And yes, when matchmaking takes forever right after you switched up your team, that's the algorithm working to find counters to yours. The whole thing is BS
Really wish they only matchmake according to Elo next season, but I'm afraid that'll never happen
My guys def talking bout synikkk lol my guy really made a video saying there isn’t an algorithm only cause he got to legendary 11 times using the same team 😂 and u have his entire comment section clowning on him for how wrong he is , including me !! My guy definitely lost people yesterday 😅
