Resisted hydro cannon does roughly the same damage as neutral crunch so ice beam is the better move on Feraligatr

I don't know. I know you have got to Legend 16 times. But sometimes I question these teams you put together.
That Empoleon team is ABA weak to Whiscash. Carbink loses to Annihilape in everything but the 0s and I have no idea where your Empoleon runs against a Poliwrath lead. Like that team just screams problems as Whishcash, Annihilape and even Feraligator are gonna be some of the most popular leads
And that Gallade team, ABA weak to charm. Again, stuck with only one answer to a shadow claw user. Idk.

Empoleon enthusiast here…beyond excited to try out the steel wing buff. FYI—Shadow Empoleon beats Cress in the 0s and 2s (depending on IVs). Shadow (with at least 115 defense) is definitely preferred, as it will be able to beat Lickitung in all even shield scenarios.
The fact that registeel, cres, and skarmory showed up on any teams proves Niantic did nothing to solve the underlying problem in GBL and that is basic b*tch mon. All this update did was shuffle the deck chairs around. Nothing has changed.
Can someone remind me what to do today to maximize my GBL end of season rewards?
I'm thinking abomasnow or ferrothorn lead with jellicent and lanturn in the back to start the season

Oh I'd definitely run crunch on the gator. I never even considered ice beam. I assumed it's recommended moveset would be crunch

In the showcased teams, is the top one generally, or always the lead? It seems logic most of the time, but I just wanted to know if that's how this should be read.

I didn’t look up the exact number, but against a water type, pretty sure resisted Hydro is still preferred over Crunch because of STAB and shadow
I tried empoleon team and did ok, but so many feraligators around that trevenant didn’t feel that great 😅 I changed to shiftry which worked pretty great.
My best Goodra is a 5 ATK one ranked like 461. Should I build it anyway?
I figured the Shadow Hippo was a cheap enough build to go ahead and try despite those matchups – can confirm he is every bit as underwhelming in game play as he is on paper. Didn’t help that as soon as I put him in I saw a steady stream of hard counters for 10 straight matches, but honestly that’s the problem – there are so many common counters for him in the meta.
Anyway it was a fun build and I’m sure I surprised more than a few BBM trainers when they saw him on the lead.
