I love how the anime perpetuated the whole 'all trainer start at 10' thing. That's not even remotely true. Plenty of trainers are clearly younger than the protagonists in every single game. Youngsters seal the deal for me, they've always seemed younger than 10 to me, especially when you consider games where the player character is 10-11 years old, and youngsters are clearly younger than them.
