If you ask me what are the top 5 games on Switch, I would say BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing, and Smash Ultimate without thinking. [According to Nintendo’s sales data, these are the top 5 sellers too.](https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/index.html) These have been the top 5 since almost the beginning. Honestly, here’s nothing new that really beats how great these games are.
Interestingly, if I go by just the past couple of years releases, my list includes mainly 3rd party games. I’ve spent tons of time in and love Red Dead Redemption, Star Ocean 2 R, Persona 5, Sea of Stars, and umm… The 5th one is hard, but I did spend a ton of time in Inscryption? Oh, the 5th game should still be Mario Kart because the DLC brought me back! Maybe TOTK should be in the list, but I’ve not played it yet.
So what are your top 5 from the past couple of years? If you’re new to Switch, is it like my all time top 5? If you’ve been around Switch for a long time, how are your recent top 5 different from your all time?

I just happen to have bought ten Switch games released between 2022 and 2023. Since I haven’t played them all yet (curse you eternal backlog) I couldn’t sort them out so here’s my top 10 Switch games for 22-23 in no particular order :
