While I know this is a joke, would be a cool way for Nintendo to get into VR someday.

I only remembered today’s date in the time between clicking the link and the page loading. But in my defense, they already had people strap Switches to their faces with Labo and Mario Odyssey’s 3D mode. If they wanted people to do that for Virtual Boy on NSO I wouldn’t be surprised.

i can not wait for the inevitable idiots to argue why it might just be real and we shouldn’t brush off the idea so quickly

God that website is bad on mobile – didnt even get to read one line of text before being spammed with dozen of ads

I mean, playing Luigi’s mansion while vacuuming the carpet and she’s just looking around is kinda funny

Nintendo, sweating: Haha, right, Switch with VR, how stupid would that be, we definitely wouldn’t make a follow-up console with that as a selling point and delay a new Metroid game for years to be the launch title, oh IGN aren’t you silly.

I wouldnt *hate* this as a thing to keep stuff like the “vr modes” in some games from being totally unusable down the line

A Meta Quest 3 with a Virtual Boy emulator is exactly that.
I still don’t know why they didn’t release VB games on the 3DS. It was the perfect opportunity and they didn’t take it.

IMO, this is the right way to do April Fools’ Day in 2024. It’s an obvious joke, but the concept is funny and they put some actual effort into it. I particularly enjoyed the Miyamoto “interview”:
>He then added, “What even was [the Virtual Boy]? That was really weird of us, honestly. Still can’t believe we pulled that off, if you can even call a product that was almost immediately discontinued as ‘pulling that off.’ Anyway, I personally loved it, and I’ve been at Nintendo for a long time so when I wanted to bring it back they had to listen to me. It’s not like they can fire me and I’ll never quit. I invented Donkey Kong. He’s like King Kong but much smaller and he wears a tie, like he’s going to a job interview. He changed the world. I also made up Mario.”

I would like to see virtual boy games on the Switch. We are missing a great wario game and 3d tetris.

funny story. First black eye I ever had was from a Virtual Boy. I was playing some kids VB on the school bus and we hit a huge bump and I took a shot to the face

IGN Zelda’s Spoof for April Fools is still the best

I know it’s an April fools joke, but a VR gimmick is my legit fear for something they’d throw in on the next console
