Today, PoGo has announced they’re removing the basic AR mode from all features of the game. The only AR option is the AR plus mode. This mode can be laggy sometimes or some devices may not have access to it. Plus, this means you can no longer use basic AR on Pokemon spawns which was much quicker for shiny checking. Honestly the basic AR mode sucked, AR+ is a whole lot better and at least now it won't use my camera to feed my buddy every time which takes up less battery overtime. RIP Super Quick Catch, I'm more upset that they removed AR from Gym Battles as I thought that was a lot more interesting and could've been tweaked on AR+ mode to be more refined and immersive.
I was surprised and confused when I saw that post from Niantic Support as well. I don’t like how they’re trying to force us to play the game a certain way by taking a beloved feature away. I haven’t encountered Pokémon in AR+ mode forever. I usually use the in-game background. In light of this news though, I used AR+ to feed my buddy today for the first time in a long time and that was pretty cool. I hope with this change, a new AR update will come to replace the one we lost

This is why I am free to play and I will never spend a single dollar on this game. I am level 49 and I won't quit playing, but they are CONSTANTLY making the experience worse and worse FOR NO REASON!

This was the only way I ever caught Pokemon, this ruins the game for me now.
It was nice for shiny checking in the car…. It's starting to not even be fun anymore… I don't even want to really play anymore
I don't see what the issue is. So your fast catches and shiny checks take half a second longer. Barely anybody used AR anyway. I have literally never seen anyone online or in person use AR outside of getting fun pictures.
Next update will probably force people with older phones to upgrade to continue to play

I can't even give my buddy berries anymore. Apparently my phone doesn't support AR mode..
as someone who never used this feature i am not affected by it
Really hate this.
But it makes an image of a Pawmo in this old AR with his head sideways that I have much more rare and fun.
I like basic AR for playing with and taking snapshots of my buddy. What's the point if all we get is the same boring snapshot against a static background all day, everyday? And using AR+ for your buddy sucks! Following the stupid footprints around and having it show up too close or too far away, or positioned halfway to the ceiling. NOT happy.
I'm glad that this change has happened because now I can actually play with my buddy again after not being able to do so since the 21st of March. The day prior I had no issues but then on the 21st I was not able to and I got a gobbledygook message which later was fixed to say that the buddy AR was unsupported on my device. Yet I could still use AR on wild Pokemon.
