Pokémon for an adult audience should be more slice of life and how living in the Pokémon world affects adult life. Pointless edginess really needs to stop being considered “mature” when the target demographic for it is 12 year olds.
Lets not forget not only did Rayquaza stab Zinnea with it's tail, it proceeded to be extra done with her bullshit and point blank hyper beamed her into the ocean
Somehow after all of this she comes away only being disabled from the waist down

My favorite moment from the manga that I’ve read so far (just beginning) is Koga fighting against Agatha’s special Arbok. The Arbok actually could change its face pattern which kept altering its stats to be at a harsh advantage at all times (kinda like if you could change your nature stats mid battle in games, very broken) so Koga’s strategy was to have his golbat bite into his arm and spit his blood onto the Arbok’s hood so it’s skin would be too bloodstained to change form
I'll say this out of respect and love because i doubt the target audience will listen. If something is very "kiddie" then it's Not child friendly.
Times have changed a lot in the last 20 years, and it has crippled many.

I have always loved the manga. Super underrated
If you want gritty mature Pokemon, play Shin Megami Tensei. Pokemon is meant for kids, so let it keep it's stories meant for kids. Digimon is meant for teens, Persona is meand for older teens, and Shin Megami Tensei is meant for adults. Instead of trying to force a game that's not meant for your age group to grow with you, move on to a similar game that's more fitting for your age group. This is coming from someone who loves and plays all of these franchises to this day.

THANK YOU for pointing out that the manga isn’t actually all dark and that those three pictures are overemphasized. It’s literally rated for general audiences! It’s really silly and fun. And for the most part, the violence adds realism, compared to the mostly slapstick anime. Pokémon are dangerous, evil team members will use their Pokémon to attack Trainers, and severe battles can cause lasting damage — Red actually develops chronic pain in his hands at one point.
I’m tired of the Arbok getting sliced in half thing for talking about the manga, it’s pretty tame for the manga and the Arbok doesn’t even die
