7 random duos for Legendary Gauntlet 14 [Pokemon Masters EX]

I’m keeping track of all my LG14 clears in this doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zt-L6_yxWLJcmUiEuVQdq2PDezPDHl6ws5YTlSDzjHc/edit

Here’s how each battle went and the sync grids used:

0:00 – Vs. Registeel: EX Wally / EX SC Steven – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=009003050801&s0=1&l0=140&r0=6&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFRobHB0jJCUmJyg&v1=012800047500&s1=5&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=13016403&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFEhMWFxgaKCstLi8wMTIzNA&v2=0

One of my proudest moments in this game was doing this duo back in LG11 – the debut of Registeel’s stage – and seeing it pop up in other rosters on the leaderboard. I didn’t record it back then since I was just testing out this duo and ended up getting it in one of my attempts, so I figured I’d record it now.

While it’s quite straightforward, the move order and timing is very strict – you pretty much have to follow what I did in the footage. This only applies if your SC Steven’s 1/5 – at higher move levels he has flinch, which makes this a lot easier. Wally tanking that sure crit Earthquake without proccing Endurance is important, and I have a feeling that skill gear mattered in that regard.

2:10 – Vs. Tornadus: EX SS Silver / BP Candice – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=002500047800&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=24011001&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFBgcKDQ8RFBUWGR0eHyIlJg&v1=013302021500&s1=5&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=24011001&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFCw4bHh8gISkqKzQ1&v2=0

In any rotation with Tornadus, how long streaks can be is dictated by how many paralyzers you have. Because of how limiting that is, players have found many teams that can bruteforce the stage without paralysis (or Piercing Blows). Here’s my take on it.

SS Silver provides the physical damage, debuffs, and sync nuke, while BP Candice provides the weather change and special damage. She ideally wants to dodge every Hurricane in Bar 1 so that she can tank as much as possible in Bar 3. This is also when I found out that one-shotting Bar 2 lets you skip Heat Wave.

6:45 – Vs. Tapu Bulu: Kahili / BP Zinnia – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=012900037300&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=24010501&t0=4444&g0=AAECAwQFBggLDQ8SExQVGBkaGxwdHiMlJw&v1=005800073300&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBgkKDQ4PERQXGh4g&v2=0

BP Zinnia having double Terrify and a 40% flinch rate gave me the idea to run her with a damage-dealer against Bulu, and Kahili felt like the perfect choice since she has low gauge.

9:31 – Vs. Registeel: EX Variety Kiawe / EX Lisia – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=021500033400&s0=5&l0=140&r0=6&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=4444&g0=AAECAwQFBgcKDRUYHR8hIiMkJg&v1=014900005900&s1=3&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhAdHh8iLg&v2=0

Registeel’s Bar 3 status shield ruins quite a number of possible strats – for V Kiawe, it prevents him from activating his innate sync multiplier. So Lisia’s here to Defog that shield away so Kiawe can freely burn Registeel in the end. Her flinches also help a lot in keeping team damage low, while she appreciates V Kiawe’s Team Sync Regen.

14:00 – Vs. Tornadus: EX Classic Blue / Iono – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=029600093900&s0=1&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=17010101&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFDA0ODxASFxgZGiAhIiMkJissLS4&v1=002102014200&s1=3&l1=150&r1=6&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBgkMERQVGBscHR8g&v2=0

Got Iono from the select scout in 4.5 anni, and while she’s a great unit, being stuck at 1/5 means you have to be a bit creative in using her against Tornadus. I paired her with Classic Blue, who has both special and physical moves so he can preserve the Special Move Up Next stacks from Iono’s passive.

17:58 – Vs. Tapu Bulu: EX Hapu / EX Tina – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=010500013600&s0=5&l0=150&r0=6&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=444&g0=AAECAwQFERIVGBobJScqKy0&v1=001300075000&s1=5&l1=140&r1=6&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBgkMDRAfIiQnKS4v&v2=0

Hapu’s Grass-weak, so I paired her with Tina so that she can take advantage of her Attack debuffs and Team Sync Regen. In turn, Tina appreciates the Accuracy debuffs so she can dodge some moves.

24:02 – Vs. Tornadus: Helena / Alcremie – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=900000086900&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=44&g0=AAECAwQFBggKDQ8RFBcaHB8iJSgr&v1=065200009300&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=444&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDRARHB4hIyksLg&v2=0

Using Helena against Tornadus is a pain since she takes a lot of damage from the Bar 2 Brutal Swings. In previous rotations I depended on her dodging them, but for this one I paired her with MC’s newest partner in Alcremie, who provides all of Defense buffs, potions, and Unfortuitous debuffs to soften up Tornadus’ damage as much as possible.
