Hello r/NintendoSwitch . I’m indie game developer based in Norway, and a few years ago, I started to make a video game, with no prior experience or relevant background. Being a fan of LucasArts point-and-click games from the 90s, I combined this classic genre with something you don’t see a lot in video games, craft beer. Teaming up with the incredibly talented comic book artist from Costa Rica, Edo Brenes, we brought this vision to life as a pure hobby. To our surprise, **Dude, Where Is My Beer?** won awards, got great reviews and captured the attention of players, despite our lack of marketing or promotional efforts.
Recently, I released my second game – **Another Bar Game** – a casual action game, also about craft beer. This time I wanted to learn more about programming and see if I could release a game all alone! It worked – and I’m happy to see that it also sells pretty well on Nintendo Switch, also with minimal marketing efforts.

Hi Arik! Did you encounter any problems with the theme of the games revolving around beer/alcohol in terms of marketing and age limits? And why the beer theme?

I enjoyed both the games, but despite the similar theme they seem and feel very different which is natural when there are different people involved in the process. What are the pros and cons of collaborating with somebody vs doing everything yourself?
Thanks for sharing your games and their history! I love playing games on all the platforms you develop for. So I wonder if your iOS version also supports external controls (keyboard or game controller) and how a user like me could find that or if there is no developer with an AMA thread available 🙂
