AMA: We are Secret Base – the developers of Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons. We just released a new FREE DLC for the game, so Ask Us Anything + win a key!

Hello r/NintendoSwitch

We’re Secret Base, the creators behind Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons, the newest installment in the legendary beat ’em up series. Explore the early beginnings of the young Lee brothers as they take on both new and familiar enemies in this alternate story. Tag in and out as the classic duo Billy and Jimmy, switch it up with Marian and Uncle Matin, or experiment with 12 additional unlockable characters, each with their own special moves and unique playstyles.

Our game has done pretty well for itself, so as a thank you for all the support we got along the way, we decided to make it even better by releasing a free DLC called The Sacred Reunion. This DLC comes with three new characters – Ranzou, Chin Sei Mei & Sonny, Online Co-Op, two new gameplay modes – Versus & Survival, and loads, loads more!

You can watch the Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons – Sacred Reunion trailer right here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_wyFodNpyE4&ab\_channel=MaximumEntertainment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wyFodNpyE4&ab_channel=MaximumEntertainment)

I love this game and happy to own a physical copy for Xbox. ABOBO Time!

As a lifelong Double Dragon fan, I must know, how is one meant to pronounce Matin?

Also, you may not have any more plans for another DLC, but do you have any ideas that didn’t get past the cutting room floor that you can share?

Thanks for making the best Double Dragon game since, let’s be honest, likely ever. 👍

  3. Congrats on the game. I’ve really enjoyed it! Was Jeff considered as a DLC character?

  4. kaminari1

Can’t believe this game slipped under my radar!

Was there any temptation to add a character named Bimmy as a fun joke?

Would you say this is a good first Double Dragon game? I’ve never played any of them before but would love to! If I win, I’ll get to for sure hehe

    Hi Secret Base!

What are the chances that Maximum will issue updated physical editions and is the license open to other physical publishers who could possibly do a collector’s edition? 😉

    CONGRATS!

I like the fact that you’ve added female characters into the game, especially as playable characters. Kudos.

I haven’t sat and looked at the game, I’m a fan of wayforward’s River City Girls series. This looks in a familiar vein to that – it looks like one of the characters has a gun (maybe it was bazooka?). This seems new – what made you want to add this kind of element and how do you feel it effects the usually very short-range gameplay of the Double Dragon kind of games?

Hi i am curious with the current landscape of gaming how you guys decided on the free dlc did it take alot of corporate haggling and convincing. Sorry in advance if its too political question.

It’s just great too see and often forgotten the free updates and efforts that are put on post release with such update kudos to you guys and much appreciated in these times cheers.

  9. Out of all the Double Dragon games released prior to Rise of the Dragons, which is your favourite and why?

If you could have any dream collab as dlc, what would you like to see join the fray this time?

I have fond memories of the original Double Dragon! Great to see the legacy is alive and kicking! 🙂

It’s really cool to see so many classic beat-em-up franchises being reborn in recent years: from Streets of Rage, to Battletoads, to TMNT, and of course Double Dragon here as well. Is there any other dormant classic series you’d love to help revitalize for the modern era?

Your game is amazing I own it on the Switch and Xbox.

    A few questions….

Do you ever plan a HD add on ?

Did you design it to be a little grindy ?

Do you have more plans for DLC ?

What is your highest combo ?

What is your biggest collection of tokens ?

    Favourite move ?

Thanks for making a game that helps me kill some time at work.

Hi! I dont get a lot of chances to play couch co-op these days, really excited you added the online co-op and plan on picking up the game now that I can play with others. I’m curious if it has cross-platform play? Sometimes its hard to find games on Switch, hopefully it has a robust community 🤞

Seriously tho, will there be a bug fix patch at least soon? Online stability inprovements?

  16. Will there be an Amiibo Abobo, a “Amiibobo” or some use of Amiibos?

  17. Nacho_Phil_

Really enjoy the game. Bought a physical copy on the Switch

Could the Lee brothers take the Streets of Rage guys in a figt?

Hope everyone is doing well. I have very fond memories growing up with Double Dragon on NES and the ridiculous Tiger Handheld version. I would love to see a “cheat menu” where the graphics could have a filter applied to be like the Gameboy or Tiger Electronics. What are the odds?

Hello team I bought the Double Dragon Gaiden physical copy for the Nintendo switch and I’m super happy with that game I love it been playing it since December and now I was super excited about the DLC and man it does bring memories specially with the two characters from DD3 and Sunny is pretty fun.

But looks like the survival mode is not working properly on Nintendo switch it freezes, or the score count gets bonkers as well, also in one arena the enemies apear on the ceiling maybe there are reports about this maybe not but just in case those are the issues that I encounter.

For sugestión maybe we could add some different colors for the characters or even different costumes or the original 8 bit sprites.
It would be nice to add a hidden level and put a big villain to explain on why the bad guys join forces with the boss to help with a true evil you can add the skull guy from Neon as the true evil dude or maybe you can use this idea for the next game

I made 103 levels on survival I could do more but the difficulty was the same no change and I was getting the same anemies over and over again, also the stages repeat for example I could be on the stage of the garage then on the next the helicopter and then the garage again, I think you just need to adjust the cycle of the stages, the enemies and difficulty.

Also my score does not appear on the dashboard.

I still love this game hope to see more

    Cheers

  21. Great game, I wish you guys make Battletoads: Double Dragon sequel in future, heh.

  22. If you had another dream project (remake or something new) to work on after this one, what would it be?
