Famiboards users have been using public customs data to try and figure out Switch 2 specs

Some Famiboards users have been using customs data to try and figure out the specs for the Switch 2. They think they've found custom documentation for DDR5 chips that leads them to believe that he Switch 2 will have 12GB of DDR5:

They also found shipments for 256GB of storage and magnets that go along with the magnetic attachment for the joycons, They've seen stuff related to 8" lcds and Nvidia T239 CPUs which have been in rumors for years. And they've seen shipments of fans pointing to two fans which they're surmising means a fan in the dock.

They also found the name "Muju" in Nintendo's Package Manager so that could be the codename for the new Switch, or it could be a placeholder.

It's all just rumor, but it's really interesting to me because I don't remember public custom data being used in leaks before.

There's a post from yesterday on GamingLeaksAndRumours which really gets into really detailed part info.

  1. Man I kinda hate leakers, why can’t people just leave shit alone and wait for the release.

I mean, kudos on them for doing some digging, but whatever happened to just sitting and waiting for the facts to come out? Why are we always trying to be one step ahead all the time?

There will be a multitude of these type of (more legitimate) leaks that will get people riled up on both sides (too weak vs its surprisingly powerful).

I can’t wait, 12gb in a handheld will be enough for everything, this thing is gonna make the series s useless

This info give us a idea of where things will land but people are still running wild with things and making ridiculous claims. We don’t know much about clock speed, process node or power limits.

The way that Nintendo fans can get obsessive like this is a little bit scary honestly.

  7. 3WayIntersection

Why are people so obsessed over this? As long as it can keep up with 3rd parties, why does it matter? If its not good enough for you get a steam deck.

kind of a bummer if it uses lcd, the switch oled looks so nice so it’d be hard to downgrade

There better just be two fans in the system forget adding it to the dock

Appreciate the downvote whoever i know my opinion doesnt matter

Its going to be PS4 on paper in handheld but the much faster CPU and ram along with dlss will make it closer to PS4 pro and close to Series S docked. My prediction. The fast 12gb of ram is really what’s going to help get ports. 10 likely usable which is plenty for a system of it’s power level.

Look I would love for this to have 12gb of RAM but for me that’s honestly a bit too optimistic.

Something like 8gb would fit Nintendo’s style.

Again this will probably somehow shock people when it releases and it doesn’t have comparable or superior specs as the highest tier ROG Ally or Legion Go.

I would LOVE to be wrong though. I’m expecting the Switch Successor to at least be a little beefier than a PS4 at least. Imagine running something like Red Dead Redemption 2 on something as thin as the original Switch, now that’s the dream.

I can’t wait to buy 10 year old hardware next year

I want a metal/glass body lite. I’m an old school player and don’t care about graphics if I get a few Mario’s a few fire emblems and a lite model and I can still buy physical I’m happy

Where did they find this customs data? I’m surprised Nintendo is exporting components outside of country of manufacturer. Is it all made in China or do they assemble it in Japan?

  15. MarcsterS

If it’s comparable or even slightly better than a PS4 or steam Deck, then 3rd party support shouldn’t be so much of an issue anymore. No more dumb shit like “This collection of PS2 games has to be streamed, sorry”.

  16. At this point, it’s only a matter of weeks until the system leaks. These shipments mean they are mass producing the console, no?

As always, we need to remember two key factors with flagship Nintendo hardware:

    1) Nintendo wants to be the cheapest console. Xbox Series S might be the only exception to this rule, however.

    2) Nintendo will not sell hardware at a loss.

With these two rules in mind, I get increasingly skeptical when leaks such as this make claims of massive boosts to every component of the hardware. This hardware would need some pretty shoddy build quality to house everything and maintain a cheap, profitable price point. I’d love to be proven wrong, though, as I would gladly pay a higher price point for some killer tech from Nintendo.

Good lord people just wait for an announcement with actual information. It’s not that serious.
