I ran very similar team with my second account today which had stardust to burn. Instead of Annhiliape I used Wiggly. Easy + 200 rank. Almost none had answers to all of those threats.

If it seems like the meta stays similar next season I’m gonna keep an Emolga for catch cup. It’s my favorite pokemon to use but I don’t think I’ve ever used one in catch cup.
Are our accounts "rolled for stats"? Like, my account finds a shiny every day, but nearly no hundos. My partner's account finds a hundo every few days, but nearly no shinies. On my account, every time i reach 2200 elo, I then get stomped back down to 1880 by absurdly unlikely direct counters. Do our accounts have stats to determine what they're "good" at?

I don’t know why you are surprised that people are using Meta pokemon. It’s not that expensive to build a meta team. Your team for example, It costs $50k for lantern and ape to get a second move and $75k for Gligar. It barely costs any anything for Ape and lantern to evolve and get to 1500 CP and even Gligar doesn’t break the bank. All up, it’s probably 300k, which could be earned in a single stardust bonus spotlight hour easily.
Am I the only one whose game freezes when battling. I've lost about 4 games so far from a winning position and the game just freezes and when I close out and get back in they say "unable to recover battle" or something to that effect and record it as lost for me…
I've faced so many lickytung and bastiodon , these guys are cringe as fuck. Even this 2 moves lanturn with awful pvp iv make me cringe , y'all making this cup terrible to play
Carbink is so op in this cup without Skarmory with good IVs around.
I would be around that ELO but the game was unplayably glitchy last night and kept freezing in the middle of battles, whether I was on wireless or data.

I recommend skarmary instead of gligar i actually gain 700 elo with that team lantern, skarmary, annilape. I Was at 2410 beginning of catch cup then raise ul to 3120 points
I ended up using quaquaval mandibuzz and jumpluff/shadow glalie 1500, in the 500 using hypno Pidgeot cetodle
I think you assume this cup is for new people. No this cup is for spending dust! That is the goal of Niantic. Keep the need to grind dust going!

I have been using Close Combat to take out the Ice and Regi’s instead of shadow ball. Does same damage but gets there quicker. I keep switching his moves… 🤷♂️
I refuse to waste resources building Pokemon with bad ivs that I will never use just to hit legend. It’s not that serious. I’ll just try again next season.
