I’ll cancel all of my appointments and take the appropriate action.
Makes sense – this is a classic move by Nintendo. Have a few remasters ready for when there is a first party lull.
Before the hot takes start, we weren’t particularly starving for games last June; Tears had just come out and we were getting SMRPG
I much prefer Nintendo have a few remasters banked for release to hit slower periods on their schedule without crunching their devs than the alternative.
They , and more specifically the devs who have to do the crunch to get games out on time, don’t owe us anything . It’s good planning by the publisher (Nintendo) even if it’s not altruistic. The net result is still a positive
Now imagine all the other games they just have sitting there just waiting
isn’t it pretty much confirmed nintendo have the prime remakes ready to go and a few other games like wind waker?
This is like the 4th of 5th time we have seen this kind of thing and it’s kinda crazy how Nintendo sits on finished games for years before its release.
I 100% believe the rumors that MP4 it’s already finished and they are waiting the perfect release window.
I keep getting these feelings that Nintendo is scrounging to extend the lifespan of the current Switch. Maybe they had some problems with Switch 2 and had to push it’s announcement back?
That lines up perfectly with their approach to software since day one on the switch. Intentionally limiting to a handful of titles per year, usually games that won’t directly compete with each other ensure the highest possible attachment rate even if it means sitting on projects that fans have been hoping to get for years. There is a very clear reason we never saw Twilight Princess or Windwaker HD on shelves, and it’s because it has the potential to detract someone from buying BotW or TotK – even 4-5 years after those games released.
They don’t need to send a playable version of a game to get a rating, and since this is a remake they already decided what would be in it from early in development
A rating does not necessarily mean a game is finished and ready for release. Most raters do not even play the game, they receive a demo video etc of relevant content from the publisher to create the rating. I know this for a fact with the ESRB for example, especially with major trusted publishers who have the process down and are known to be reliable with what they submit. The content for this was obviously locked for a long time. I think people are leaping a bit far in their conclusions. It’s weird to me that people are unconditionally claiming this means the game was sitting on a shelf for a year.
Does this mean the game was ready to go gold then? Or is this just someone trying to correlate something non-related just because it seems like news?
Just like Prime Remastered. That game was finished and published to be rated, THE SAME DAY Metroid Dread was. Meaning in June of 2021. Not only Metroid Dread was done, but Prime Remastered was too. Also meaning Nintendo just let it lay dormant for 1 1/2 years
Now give us Paper Mario 64 Remake.
I’d much, much rather have “omg they had this finished 12 months before release??” than “omg they only finished this 12 months after release”.
Nintendo are sitting on so many games
Why… why… they certainly didn’t time the drop with my game vouchers becoming invalid. No no… Nintendo would never set anything up to make sure you can’t save a dollar.
Just wait till you find out how long they’ve been waiting to release windwaker and twilight princess.
Not surprising Intelligent Systems seems to be Nintendo’s goated Switch developer. They have games ready at all times it seems. Lol Genealogy of the Holy War you’re up next.
