This is one of the only two gyms in my town. I typically don’t even bother putting pokémon in either because no one here plays, and the pokémon will stay in the gyms for months at a time. My pokemon in the other gym just got knocked out after 43 days, which prompted me to take this screenshot of my other pokémon.
There’s nearly no pokestops, and the ones that are here are primarily churches.. a lot of which don’t allow people to be on the grounds except between certain times.
The closest poi in general to where I live is roughly 9 miles, and only accessible by highway. So there’s almost no way of easily doing routes, spinning stops, or catching pokémon altogether .. aside from the single pokémon that spawns when you first open the app for the day, and when you use the 15 minute daily incense. Basically I have to set aside a whole chunk of my day, if not the whole day, just to play this silly game.
I literally don’t even open the app when I’m in my town. I only play in the city where I work, and it takes me so long to level up because I don’t have the same time to play over there as I would at my own home. I level up by doing remote raids on genie, which costs real world money because I can’t get coins from the two gyms in my town.
And using a regular incense doesn’t help nearly as much as it should; it’ll maybe spawn a pokémon every 10 minutes or so (at least for me and my friends.. my friends even less often because they’re even farther than me. I at least live in a “subdivision” (if you can call it that))
Sorry to ‘rant’ , I just went to the beach recently and had a pokestop near my rental, and finally realized how genuinely fun the game is for people near civilization. And thought maybe some people don’t fully understand the opposite side of the coin
