The inspiration for this regional variant is one time in Pokemon Go I left my Rhyperior on a mountain and he didn't get taken out for a month. I don't have a name for the region this variant is from but I just made this because I thought it was cool, I figured this is a variant that is probably extinct by now though so maybe it would be in a legends game.
The Rhyhorns (Rock Type) in this region live near mountain temples and due to being exceptionally lazy the weather smooths them out as well as causing the monks of these temples to mistake them for regular rocks and decorate them.
Rhydon (Rock Type) in this region are very rare since the Rhyhorn have no will to fight, but if they are well taken care of then on occasion they will evolve when their care taker or trainer is attacked. Rhydon can usually be found guarding the Temples in this region, but most of them are fairly old.
Rhypeerless (Rock/Fairy Types) is an alternate evolution of Rhydon in this region unlike Rhyperior, Rhypeerless is quite agile. The horn on Rhypeerless has broken to reveal an ancient weapon of unknown origin. No more than two Rhypeerless have been seen in the same century as to evolve they must win 100 battles in a row and the Rhydon rarely fight if not in the defense of their temples.
The monks continue to decorate the Rhydon, and Rhypeerless as a show of respect for their protection.
