The power of mega evolution has increased Celebi’s speed, allowing it to travel through space and time more quickly than ever before. The nebular dust that it gathers around its neck is used by its X counterpart to create plant life.
If you’re wondering what these guys are based on, Y’s design is taken heavy inspiration from the Little prince, a character from a famous French children’s book about a boy in outer space.
As for X’s, it’s design is partly based on Chang’e, The Chinese goddess of the moon but also the rose that the Little prince has and admires.
These guys also share that drone bee + queen bee-like symbiotic relationship I guess.
