Concerned Ape says the 1.6 Switch update is still in progress and he promises not to charge for future updates or DLC
the ports and next pc update are still in progress. I know it is taking a long time, its on my mind every minute. I have personally been working on the mobile port every day. I will announce when there is any meaningful news (e.g. a release date). hope youre having a good summer

I was patiently waiting for 1.6 to drop. I might just make a 1.5 play through…

I’m not even a fan of SDV but I recognize it’s a fantastic game, he’s a *one guy team*, and he absolutely doesn’t have to give anyone free updates/content especially ten years on! What an awesome dev!
Eric is such a class act. Nobody in their right mind would be disappointed with a paid DLC. Nobody. The game gave so much, the updates were amazing. And yet here he is saying that.
Honestly I would have happily paid $10 for the 1.5 update and another for 1.6 and still felt like it was a bargain. At this point – this is a better value deal than most of the $60 games I have purchased ever in my life
Honestly man, I *want* him to charge for a dlc. The game launched great and just keeps getting bigger, plus I believe he has staff to pay now and at least one other game in the pipeline in the Haunted Chocolatier, more funding could not hurt. Even if it’s just like sprite packs or something.
Is it just me or do other people’s games freeze all the time? I am hosting about online world so I’m thinking it could be that, but not sure
I got impatient back in May and started a 1.6 playthrough on PC. There’s enough updates on this one to keep the game interesting, just too bad there’s no known timeline for console. Many were expecting a month or two tops.
I guess it’s done when it’s done.
Suspect we’ll have the same routine for Haunted Chocolatier, but not the worst concern in life to have. Hopefully when he does transition to the new game, he can solely keep his time on it, and put Stardew to bed. So far as I’m concerned, it’s polished enough.
While I am impatiently waiting, st thw same time I have zero issues with waiting. Unlike a few other Switch indie devs he actually follows through on his promises. Plus its free, how could I complain about free?

Charge me all day, it’s difficult for me to find a farming sim I like and I grew up playing HM. I bought a copy on switch, and a copy on steam. It was a shock to get 1.6, and I’ll happily take and pay for anything you present to me.
It’s a shame he doesn’t charge for DLC, however I do buy Stardew Valley on every console I have and have gifted it to friends and family who I think might like it.
I’m a casual gamer and tbh it’s pretty nuts that I had to go more than one comment deep to figure out what game this is about. I’ve played it but I’m not a huge stardew valley girl and didn’t know the dev by name off the top of my head. This is the Nintendo switch sub, not the stardew valley sub, and posts like this are hard for casual gamers to access.
For a dead game that has no replayability to me. Like pass.
Personally I think it isn’t cool that he leaves his entire non-PC player base out in the cold for months and months waiting on new content. Money is no object to this man – why create an inconsistent experience for players on various platforms when he could just throw some money at this to get updates day and date across all platforms? Hello Games doesn’t struggle with this, has not ever charged for updates or DLC, and they’re fully supporting their entire player base – including on three distinct VR platforms!
I’m sure this will get downvoted and that’s fine. CA is a rightfully beloved figure. I think he deserves some criticism for this though. Also, it would be really nice if Haunted Chocolatier could be out before Stardew turns, I don’t know, 15? Not to mention what other projects this man has in mind – I want to see them!
Stardew Valley
I already have paid twice for this game and a few more time for friends and family. Bring it on, Concerned Ape is worth it!
This is about Stardew Valley if anyone is curious.
Concernedape is such a good guy and I will happily wait for the update on switch. I’m an impatient person by nature so this is good practice to become more patient, especially since he’s doing so much for us for free. I’d rather wait for a good update that he’s satisfied with, and has most of the bugs and glitches fixed, than get a rushed update now.
Why did he have to promise that? Were people thinking he’d charge for some reason?
Can we genuinely just stop linking to x/twitter at all anymore? Even if you have an account to login and view tweets they block you if you have any sort of ad blocker or tracker blocker enabled (which safari on iOS does by default) making it actually impossible to use their site unless you disable it individually each time. Encourage using sites that don’t needlessly block access for greed and the emotions of a man-child billionaire.

This guy’s so wholesome and such a great antithesis to big-name companies (coughEAcough). Thats awesome he’s doing for free but, like other on here have said, would pay for dlc like how the Dead Cells guys do it.
That’s great! I’m sure doing all of that alone is hard work, and very time consuming. I’ve been interested in the Switch port, but I was holding out for this update, so hopefully it comes soon! At the very least, there is money from me going Concerned Ape’s way in the near future.
