…But now ah’m not so sure. It- It a’ seems tae be gaun wrong. Mah CROSSILS… None of ‘em seem to be coming oot right. Ah wanted to create something beautiful. Tae show them how it’s done and what a ***real*** scientist can create. The art o’ resurrection in the hands of a professional like meself. But all ah seem to be getting is monsters no better than hers.
But ah *can’t* stop. Not now. Not now it’s gettin’ so much worse. Ah heard they’re even in Kanto now. Ah need- Ah need to keep goin’. To be strong. They need me.

So when I first beheld this unfortunate beast, it called to mind a sort of art trend that I think was popular several years back:
Hanahaki Disease.
A sort of fictional disease where you start coughing up flower petals if you experience unrequited love. It’s unrelated thematically, but honestly makes me appreciate how simultaneously beautiful as well as fucked up, sick and horrible this creature is. They have a complex beauty to them, but are also…not that different, and no less misbegotten than Cara Liss’ creations.
If only it weren’t too late to stop, Illia…

You know how Cara’s CROSSILS tend to have those spooky “ghost eyes”?
Perhaps Illia’s CROSSILS tend to have distinguishing traits too! Perhaps burning yellow-and-red eyes, and/or black slime dripping down their faces! Whaddya think?
