Nintendo has explicitly told us to expect an *announcement* of the next system sometime between now and March 2025.

Man, it is wild to think how some of us (including me) had thought this console was launching March of this year, at one point.
Then rumors swirled that it would be pushed to later this year, then March of next year to be similar to the original Switch launch.
Now it just seems like they’re moving it to fuckin Fall 2025. I’m a little tired of the waiting.

This is also the same guy that said that there wouldn’t be a big game after Tears of the Kingdom, which is absolutely not true lol. So, take that as you will.
My launch Switch fan has broken, I would love a Switch 2 so I don’t buy an OLED version now and find it out of date only a few months before the Switch 2 is announced.

Furukawa said Switch 2 would be revealed before April 2025. So many people have taken that to mean it could be released by then. Not happening.

They really want that “more consoles sold than any other” title for the Switch. I’m sure some of us are on our 2nd Switch now because of the battery life on the launch consoles.

If it’s not out before the end of May, I wouldn’t expect anything before September. Consoles just don’t release in the summer.
GBA released in June but that was 23 years ago, they also didn’t do simultaneous releases in Japan and western countries at that time still.

I doubt many people even expect it to get an announcement before January 2025, Switch itself approaching her estimated last solo holiday quarter with releases like a new and particularly head-turning Zelda entry. They might even decide to roll out MP4 first unless it’s cross-gen.

So it’s not coming out this fiscal year. And Nintendo said we’d get a reveal during the end of this fiscal year. 🤔 Based on that we probably won’t get a reveal until January next year at the earliest and a release in May of next year. Releasing it during the fall will put it against GTA 6 and that’s not a battle that Nintendo wants.

Im still kinda salty we never got any WW or TP ports on the switch tbh. Seemed inevitable, but now it seems unlikely to happen until the Switch 2. And I think a 2025 launch makes sense.
I just never got to play WWHD or TPHD. Went to buy a Wii U before the switch came out, and was surprised the price hadnt gone down. So I never bought one. Couldve bought one used but seems even less worthwhile now.
