That means that there will be an announcement between September, 2024 and March, 2025.
Please keep all questions, discussion and speculation of the next Nintendo console confined to this megathread. All threads about this topic will be removed and redirected to this thread.
Please note that nothing is verified about the next Nintendo console except for the fact that it will be announced during this fiscal year. All information about its specs, name, etc. are just speculation and/or wishful thinking.
Thank you.

I hope there will be Mario games.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some feature, like street pass or some RFID thing to tie into the amusement parks they are building.
Made my heart skip a beat seeing the megathread
the DS U
I really want a “Game Boost” mode for backwards compatible games. Many Switch games would benefit from a better frame rate.
I cannot wait to see the next 3D Mario and 3D Zelda (I cannot wait to play echoes of wisdom btw).
I can’t wait! I hope we get an announcement asap.

They won’t announce anything until the new year. Can’t risk discouraging switch owners from buying some of their upcoming games, especially if the successor is backwards compatible.
I’m hoping for a backwards compatible 4.7 inch switch 2 mini with oled and TV out. That’s the dream
I hope we get achievements like what they have in PlayStation and Xbox
Hundred percent going to announce in October and launch in March.
My guess is animal crossing in the first year, maybe as launch.
Launches with Super Mario spring 2025 with Animal crossing summer 2025, Mario kart November 2025.
Early 2026 Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon legends. Smash Bros revealed spring 2026 with a November release.
An actually polished mainline Pokemon game in 2027.
I realized that after dealing with both my launch and OLED switch what I really want
Is proper USB standard charging at much faster rates. Not their off kilter standard, and nothing as slow as molasses.
I know there needs to be a balance between speed and longevity, but the OG switch just ain’t it.
My biggest hopes for the new console: I hope they stick with something similar to the switch rather than switching (heh) things up; I hope we get a better OS/Home Screen experience, more like the Wii and 3DS; a bit better support for their paid online service (splatoon online vietnam flashbacks here…); better/more durable controllers.
Also, it should launch with Mother 3 Remastered ReRocked and Reloaded
I feel it will follow the switch announcement and release.
Be announced in January and launch in march.
I hope it has a super weird gimmick, like a pulse rate tracker that has to be administered rectally.
Any guesses on what they will do with the next animal crossing?
I’m mostly excited to get some actual new games from their main franchises instead of just lazy Wii U ports. Mario Kart 8 is over 10 years old now and they just keep on milking it.
Here is my wishlist:
* Backward Compatibility
* Beefier specs, especially for framerate
* Nintendo Account transfer
* Switch 1 data transfer
* Better online
* No drift
* ACTUAL support from 3rd-party devs
Backward compatibility is probably the number one for me, but other than that I just hope the hardware is a little better and capable of running games at slightly better quality. Not that it has to be an insanely powerful gaming rig, that’s never been the point of Nintendo consoles, but just enough to make things smoother and look better. Oh and, this is a really minor one, but I do hope that it has an interesting design. If it really is just a “new switch” then I guess it won’t change too much, but I’ve always liked nintendo’s consoles and consider them a really diverse lineup, would love to see something equally as cool come out soon!
Can I play it on a box? Can I play it with a fox?
Pictures of the Switch 2 have leaked from a Chinese factory, as well as specs which agree with those previously leaked from shipping data.

It’s basically a bigger Switch with Joycons that attach magnetically.
12GB RAM at 7500MT/s, current Switch has 4GB at 3200 MT/s.
256GB storage at 2100 MB/s, current Switch has 32/64 GB depending on the model and it runs at 400MB/s.
HDMI 2.1
USB C ports on both the top and bottom
VGC has corroborated the leak with their own source

I think the reveal will be a commercial a la Switch 1, I remember the commercial being released in the evening, EST.
So it may not be the standard “join us for a direct” kind of announcement that they usually do.
If the new controllers snap to the base vis magnets like rumors suggest, then we should see a new logo/animation for the switch right? The current one is a controller sliding into place like they do on the console.
Therefore new marketing will be the controllers snapping in sideways in the animation, right?
Why am I seeing so much news about the Switch 2 recently? I don’t think they’ve said anything more officially… anyone else see an uptick of Switch successor news?
Anyone who thinks we’re getting a reveal before the holidays is huffing copium IMO, no way Nintendo would whiff its best-selling console’s last holiday cycle by overshadowing it with the New Shiny. I’m expecting February or March for a reveal with it launching just in time for summer break.
