If I was allowed to post images in the comments I would have done that but I can’t so one more post for a while!
I think changing the hair to be much more distinctive vines was a good idea, and I liked the suggestions of adding some red accents! In the end the ‘mud’ turned into a honey like sap, but it serves the same purpose of protecting it from pests and attacks. It often covers its kids with the sap too to give them their own protective coating.
For fun I threw together a sheet of the design process and the previous versions I went through until I landed here! 💖
