New Jersey would be Mabosstiff. I feel like if you know you know
Kansas gets either Sunflora or Ariados + Scyther
For Delaware aka the “First state” would it be Arceus, Mew, Bulbasaur, or Rhyhorn? 😉
South Carolina would be Carnivine. Venus fly traps, despite their name, are native here
Pennsylvania would be Bronzong for the Liberty Bell.
Wisconsin’s pokemon would be miltank since it is also known as the dairyland state, or Galarian Zigzagoon (also the badger state).
Give Alaska Beartic!
Oklahoma would get Tornadus.
Ohio might be seedot
Washington State could have Sudowoodo. The state gem is petrified wood.
Louisiana I think would be pelliper, or Swanna.
What would Missouri’s state Pokémon be?
Minnesota would have Ducklett maybe? It’s the closest Pokemon to a loon. Or Gyarados for our lakes
As much as I dislike the Rolycoly line, it’d probably be Pennsylvania’s due to the history of coal mining.
ETA: due to the below discourse, I would like to amend my idea. Rolycoly line for us central PA folks, and Bronzong for the east/west folks due to the big fuckoff bell and steel respectively.

Michigan would definitely be Sawsbuck.
We already included deer on the state flag, and we do like to talk about our seasons. Plus Sawsbuck is a reference to sawbucks which are used for lumber cutting. And guess what Michigan’s pre-automobile industry was?

It’s definitely Rockruff for Colorado. With it’s rock typing (like the Rockies) and the fact that everyone I know (including me) owns a dog out here… Kinda perfect

I vote ursaluna for alaska, we actually have big bears and the lunar theme works well with our crazy day/night cycle.
I’m in Maryland so it would probably be Krabby or Kingler.

Virginia: Gardevoir because you could edit her right into our flag and she totally fits 😂
West Virginia: Sableye because WV definitely has to get some kind of a cryptid + it lives in caves and mountains and eats rocks so it has the perfect environment.
