Nintendo

Turns out a stock Wii U can burn eShop games to Blu-ray disc! Larger, cheaper, and faster than the DVD-RAM discovery made a few years ago, this would be the way to go if someone wanted to back up those games to optical media.

Something that would have been great to know last year

Tied to the console though, so not like you can swap discs around. Basically just storage.

This is actually really cool. Thank you for sharing!

acts as a ram disc, couldnt give it too a mate etc as its locked to system.

It’s a disc that is tied to your system. Once your system dies it’s useless. If you hack your system to run a disc that isn’t tied to it, you don’t need discs to begin with. This isn’t a solution.

Nintendo is going to send the ninjas after you

A lot of systems that can use a USB storage device can “burn” games to DVD-RAM, and apparently BD-RE too.

It just depends on how it presents to the device.

Considering how easy dvd rams rot, I feel like that’s playing around with fire.

It’s a great third or fourth option for backing up but, horrible first option.
