0:00 – Free Upgrade + Pattern
Got Fairy again!!! My favorite type in the game, and definitely the best type upgrade I can get since I’m only missing two Fairy-type units, and I have a lot of Fairy-types with EX roles unlocked.
0:11 – Support + Tech vs. Water-weak Bruno: EX-R NC Hop / EX-R Arven / EX-R Tierno
Area 1 Support + Tech surprisingly only has one possibility, and it’s a Support-heavy pattern. That means there’s a second Support + Tech area, so I had to decide who to use here and who to save for later. Not only that, since Area 10 is Support + Sprint, I also had to take that into account in terms of which units to save for that.
While Arven’s great for some UBs, he doesn’t really fare well in most of them, so he goes here. Tierno’s here coz the other Support with this combo is a Fairy-type, while NC Hop seemed the least useful out of the Techs with this combo.
2:14 – Support + Field vs. Unova NC 2 Battle Challenge: EX Mix Red / EX Lillie / EX-R Arc Steven
This stage was meant for NC Cheren and NC Bianca, and that made me bring Arc Steven since this wanted rebuffs. I decided on Mix Red as the damage-dealer to counter the evasion, but then I ended up bringing Lillie as the Fairy unit anyway lol
4:22 – Support + Strike vs. Fire-weak Molayne: EX-R Emma / EX-R NC Bianca / EX-R Arc Cynthia
Had the same dilemma here as in Area 1 in terms of which units to use. I definitely wanted to save Penny for Area 9, while I wanted to save NC Blue for that as well since I might need him for Area 10. That left me with three Strike units with Support EX, and I decided that NC Marnie would fit those two supports better, so NC Bianca and Emma went here. Arc Cynthia didn’t have anywhere else to go so I put her here too.
6:02 – Tech + Sprint vs. Grass-weak Siebold: EX-R SS Wally / EX-R Classic Elesa / EX SS Korrina
Unlike Areas 1 and 3, what I had a problem here is deciding who to bring alongside Wally and Elesa lmao. Ended up with Korrina for the crit buffs and no-miss moves since this stage debuffs accuracy.
8:20 – Support + Tech vs. Poke War Games Battle Challenge (Grimsley): EX-R SS Silver / EX-R SS Steven / EX-R Trevor
This stage was meant for SC Diantha and SC Hilda. Pretty easy though a bit annoying and that’s why it took so long.
12:26 – Support + Field vs. Flying-weak Hala: EX-R Bede / EX-R V Thorton / EX-R SS Morty
Saved both of them for this stage in case of a lucky area, and I got baited by it lol. Bede was more than happy to make this stage a truly great pink.
15:21 – Strike + Field vs. Holiday 2021 Battle Challenge: EX-R SS Nemona / EX-R Geeta / EX-R Mix Blue
Was dreading this area since none of my Field + Strike units are Fairy-types, and it ended up not only being a battle challenge, but one with super-effective moves against most of my units with the multiplier bonus. So I took the L and exchanged 150 points for a Fairy-type instead, and SS Nemona made this almost comically easier.
17:33 – Support + Sprint vs. Dragon-weak Iris: EX-R NC Bede / EX-R NC Rosa / EX-R Red
I was also dreading this area since I only have one Support + Sprint Fairy-type and I obviously wanted to save her for Area 10, but thankfully I got a CS stage, which means I’m free to just sing spam with Rosa. It meant a VERY long fight but at least Bede’s damage is high for a support.
23:35 – Support + Strike vs. Fire-weak Blue: EX-R NC Marnie / EX-R NC Blue / EX-R Penny
All that planning for this area and the game gives me a Kanto CS stage. Wow. I hope that means my Area 10 is also easy…
26:50 – Support + Sprint vs. Masked Royal (Hard): EX-R Paulo / EX-R SS Mina / EX-R NC Blue
…yeah. My Very Hard stage was Nemona and I knew I wasn’t doing that, and I was actually having a hard time putting together a team for Masked Royal since I didn’t have a reliable Speed debuffer. Turns out, I can just do the stage without a Speed debuffer and rely on NC Blue’s debuffs and para instead thanks to the reduced stats, so I was able to pull through with Paulo’s damage and SS Mina’s tankiness.
