no shit, with switch 2 coming out in 2025, Nintendo is gonna shift their first party efforts to support the new console

  2. TheFergPunk

If true, this seems to suggest the switch 2 will be out on the latter part of 2025

Okay. Gonna get downvoted for sure because of my opinion. But I am okay with this. My backlog of current Switch titles is massive and I have a lot of games to finish. There’s enough quality content to keep me busy still for a while.

I know many others won’t feel the same though. Just my opinion.

Why is the thumbnail splinter cell tho

  5. Corronchilejano

Well yes, because the first thing everyone will do is port everything they didn’t port to the switch.

  6. SlyCooper007

Using Splinter Cell as the thumb nail makes me feel bad we haven’t had a new game in over a decade.

That’s pretty typical of Nintendo gearing up for their new console coming out soon. They’ll start to phase out first party support for their old console while third party companies will continue to release games. It’s just a normal part of the cycle.

This does make me think it’s very likely we’ll see the next Nintendo system by the end of 2025/early 2026.

143 million units sold with the high likelihood it’ll pass the PS2 and DS as the most successful video game console of all time says it all. 3rd party developers are not going anywhere. Except EA, which still puzzles me why they are refusing to put games on Nintendo’s platform.

So it’s basically going to be like the Switch announcement.

Honestly, the problem isn’t exactly the lack of promises for third party support, everyone is worried about. Everybody and their grandma are already presuming that the successor will have third party support, considering the flop that the Wii U was.

What the public is concerned with is wether the new console will offer a decent library from the start, instead of the weak one the Switch had, initially.

Why are they bothering with EA? What does EA bring to the table at this point? What EA games are people clamoring for to be on the Switch?

I wish for Morrowind and oblivion along with radiata stories, skies of arcadia, xenoblade chronicles x and wind waker + twilight princess ☺️

  12. GlendaleMendoza

Common man, just Windwaker and Twilight Princess ports, please!!!!

  13. SelfDepricator

Release the Switch 2 for God sakes. An alarm clock is not a substitute

  14. UltiGamer34

Give me COD back on nintendo consoles

  15. Shiny_Kisame

Please port Fallout 3/NV and TES 4 Oblivion. Legitimately only ports i personally want and would be a day 1 purchase

  16. TheRealJRG

Fuck it- Bloodborne on Switch before PC /j

Saying that the Switch will have support after Switch 2 release is like when Nintendo said the Switch release will not affect 3DS support. They will wait a bit to see how successful the new system is, and then we will see Switch support dwindle.

  18. Gamer857

Anyone know why the developers of Chameleon Twist stopped the series? And why did the company that made Mischief Makers didn’t make another one?

With the metal gear collection, I have come to the conclusion that there needs to be way more gen 5 and 6 console games on the switch. I can think of a ton of games I would pay for from the ps and ps2.

  20. Falkner09

These Switch 2 rumors are being downgraded in record time.

  21. SpacemanJB88

I’ve been saying for over a year now, Nintendo’s plan all along was to force the Switch to be the most sold console of all time.

The probability that the Switch 2 will eclipse the Switch in sales is a low likelihood. This is there best chance to put Nintendo in the #1 spot.

It doesn’t matter how long it takes, Nintendo is not dropping Switch 2 until Switch eclipses 155 million units. Though the unsubstantiated Sony rumours is that they need to sell 160,000,001.

  22. FoxLIcyMelenaGamer

Ya’ll just be paying anything from any stupid person huhs?

  23. jgreg728

We’ve been burned by this promise before.

  24. RayMinishi

It’s a matter of if the hardware is powerful enough for said third party. I’m sure capcom would love to port over their new monster hunter title, but if it just doesn’t run up to snuff, then it makes sense why they would keep it in the back burner

Rumor: Nintendo to make video games in 2025

  26. Double-Seaweed7760

I’d unironically love it if all of next year was filled with straight ps3 ports and ps2/Xbox remakes.

  27. MarvelManiac45213

Yikes sounds like Switch 2 ain’t launching until Holiday 2025 at the earliest. If Nintendo has nothing left for the OG Switch besides Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Prime 4, and Pokémon Legends Z-A then yikes 2025 is about to be a LONG slow year with nothing but Partner Showcases for the entire year…

  28. syrindigo26

I think “Lean on” is probably inaccurate… I. Sure third parties making the jump is important, but.. all the games we got this year are not in-house games, we got no Pokémon games… like maybe it won’t be as epic as switch year 1 was, but I think they know they need a pretty killer first party line up (and probably Pokémon) to make the transition, and besides it already probably launching with Mario kart 9… we can only go up from there.

    Switch 2 Lineup

    1. Star Fox Zero
    2. Paper Mario Color Splash
    3. Breath of the Wild 4K

  30. I feel this narrative is crudely constructed from a few sparse details.

First, Nintendo doesn’t need to “lean” on developers to get releases on a system that has sold over 130m units. Developers who like money will do that on their own.

Second, Nintendo always works with third party developers. Metroid Prime Remaster, Metroid Dread, Links Awakening, Echoes, Metroid Prime 4, etc, etc, etc. What exactly is going to be different in 2025?

Third, Nintendo themselves almost certainly going to continue supporting Switch with cross platform titles. Nintendo being a developer that likes money.

And finally, are those remake examples supposed to be evidence of Nintendo padding the portfolio to make up for their own resources on major games being put to Switch 2? THOSE games?!
