Note: As always, the Animated Series heights displayed are estimates, so do not take them too seriously.
Note 2: From gen 8 and beyond, Pokémon always follow their strict Pokédex heights without any deliberate changes. Thank you!

My favorite would be Salamance. In the anime it was shown to be this towering dragon and one that a trainer could easily fly around on in the anime. The Pokedex says otherwise being a bit shorter than I am and likely could not fly on its back if it were that short.

Always cool to see the difference. Now makes me want to try and find out the difference of some of my favourite mons, swinub, togitic, marill, chimecho ! Thank you for making this series!
Qoppa_Guy
Anime series with all the Alpha versions going brrrr
PikStern
Sizes change, look PLA or PoGo. Or S/V.
Now we havw different size mons and that makes way more sense (maybe the Alpha sizes in PLA was a bit to much for the small pokes) because not every dog or cat are the same size, neither are humans. So why would pokemon be always the same size?

The fact that you used Misty for the one Bug-type here 💀
Money_Fish
Pokedex measurements never made any sense. For example at 14m high and weighing only 400kg Wailord would be about as dense as styrofoam. It would just bob around on the surface unable to even partially submerge itself let alone dive.

anime: absolute monster
games: what do you mean im taller?
Crunchycrobat
Idk man, that rapid ash estimate feels pretty off especially seeing the Pic right beside it, it feels way closer to the game size than the estimate
cb0702
Cool!! Do you also calculate how much taller/larger the anime mons are relative to pokedex size? Would be interesting if they always make them (for example) 20%-30% larger.
Pure_Spyder
I love that by the dex onix is bigger than rayquaza, the anime always felt like the sizes were more realistic in a sense
bluedeer10
Groudon and Kyorge actually feel like they’re titans that shaped the earth in the anime
ThePsychoBear
A horse’s height is measured from toe to withers, not toe to head. As is essentially every quadrupedal animal in existence.
YamLow8097
Disappointed by the lack of Charizard. Apparently they’re only like five foot according to the Pokédex.
SheriffHeckTate
The Team Rocket one has Meowth being way off. In the group picture he stands nearly up to James’ belt and the top of Jesse’s skirt. On the scale he is nearly a foot below that.

I think it comes down to the question of whether Pokemon are meant to be animals like what we have in real life or unique fantastical creatures. Game Freak tries to keep the Pokemon relatively human sized or most closely resembling the animal that inspired it, like bug pokemon being actual bug sized. The show goes for a fantastical sizing with pokemon often being bigger than people and the animals that inspired them.

I’m pretty sure Nidoking had the most dramatic height difference in the anime. They REALLY didn’t know what they were doing when making him four feet tall. Can you also take a look at my favorite Pokémon and see their height difference if you’d like?
ParasaurolophusZ
That height for Jesse and James is nuts, too. Aren’t they only like 15 or 16?
GaI3re
I do KIND OF get the idea behind it, but I still find the idea od making all pokemon the size that would fit a child very silly…
TorchbeareroftheStar
I’ve always felt that the anime size depictions to be the most accurate
helenwaspushed
After seeing how small pokemon looked in scarlet/violet i’d like them to use more anime sizes
DevourerJay
He’s an alpha…
massigh1212
why the hell was anime rapidash so huge?
bearbuckscoffee
tbh pokédex sizes always seem so weirdly small. like its ALWAYS smaller than it feels like it should be
3RR0RFi3ND
When op doesn’t know there’s various sizes in Arceus Legends.

How accurate is Reshiram
Dragoonmage23
I think Pokemon go and the Let’s Go series kinda explains this tho
Lestat30
Every time I see something like this, I’m reminded of Charizard valley. Where ash Charizard was actually the smallest one there.
broodkiller1289
Take it with a grain of salt, pokemon weight is weird compared to the game weight anyways.
milkrescue
You know how dog’s heights are measured to their shoulder instead of the top of their head? Maybe Pokémon are the same… most of these would make a lot more sense if that were the case.
extradabbingsauce
Pokemon come in all different sizes. Remember the giant magikarp?
Viator_Mundi
Search Google for human male height, it’s apparently 1.7m so most of us on earth are not lore accurate
Dizzy_Designer1761
Never knew James’s was a communist
Environmental_Look14
For Rapidash horses are usually measured to their shoulder height. So the anime and the game dex height are more similar.
Zeba_Stakian
To be fair, the pokedex’s entries aren’t entirely factual since they were made by amateurish scientists.
