I decided to drive in the military camouflage, by making Octillery able to blend in into deep trenches and plant-life like Kelp
# Inspiration:
This regional variant of Octillery takes its roots from its *Gold/Silver* beta design, reimagined as a more militaristic and tactical entity. Its physical traits and abilities pay homage to cephalopod adaptations and military technology.
* **Mimicry and Camouflage:** The stripe patterns on Regional Octillery’s body mimic those of the mimic octopus (*Thaumoctopus mimicus*), with the added twist of resembling camouflage paint used by soldiers for protection and deception.
* **Tank Design:** The stripes also evoke the structural features of the *2S25 Sprut-SD*, a light amphibious tank capable of water propulsion. Its extended, cannon-like mouth enhances its resemblance to an anti-tank gun. Appropriately, “Sprut” translates to “octopus.” It can also translate to “Spray” in Swedish
* **Cephalopod Steel Typing:** Drawing from *Vulcanoctopus hydrothermalis*, a species of octopus thriving near hydrothermal vents, the Steel typing is symbolic of the metallic minerals present in vent water. The metallic sheen of its head resembles a soldier’s helmet, with yellow accents reminiscent of the *Pickelhaube* (spiked helmets)
# Signature Hidden Ability: Soldier’s Creed
* **Effect:** If this Pokémon is sent into battle immediately after a fainted party member, its **Attack** and **Special Attack** sharply increase (+2 stages).
* **Strategy:** Unlike *Moxie*, this ability is triggered by the fainting of allies rather than defeating foes, offering a tactical option to turn the tide in battle. Players can strategically faint party members outside of combat to exploit this boost.
# Octazooka Buff
* **Base Power:** 85
* **Accuracy:** 90%
Regional Octillery’s militaristic theme introduces several new moves that expand its utility:
* I.e. Aqua Jet, Gyro Ball, Iron Head, Lock-On, Mud Bomb, camouflage,

That ability’s so good that I wouldn’t be mad about this just being a third stage on top of Octillery

35 speed 😫😵💫

Nah bro, I’m going to need you to sell this design to Gamefreak because this is way too good.

The only thing I would say is that the shiny should maybe be a different color. I mean… if its theme is camouflage, how would it make sense for its shiny to be slightly discolored? That would make it more easily spotted, and thus by natural selection there shouldn’t be many shinies left, if any at all (whereas shinies aren’t usually rare because of their palette; they’re rare because they’re rare.)
Instead I think swapping its blue top stripe and darker blue torso colors would go really hard. It would make the pokemon overall more vibrant (fitting for a shiny) but would still make sense for its camouflage theme, as it would still blend into its normal environment.
Otherwise this idea is fire.

As a PKMN Trainer who specializes in Steel-Types, I approve of this Regional Form! I must admit, I’m surprised at how low its speed is. I thought octopuses were faster than that.

My first thought based on the colors is this is water poison – I was surprised to see steel
