That’s like, one quarter’s worth away. Hot damn…

I want a Nintendo 4DS x Dark Souls 4 crossover. Truly the DS of perfection.

I wonder if we’ll see a lowered price for the normal Switch after the sucessor comes out. Kind of like the 3DS was super cheap at the end of its life (The cheapest model was a 2DS for **$80**). A very cheap Switch Lite and maybe the normal/OLED Switch for $150-$200 could inflate the numbers to reach NDS and maybe PS2 numbers.

I wonder if Nintendo will suddenly “find” an extra 5 million DS units sold since 2012 🤔😎

I keep saying it. Switch mini. Make a smaller pocketable switch and I think they’d sell more units.

Switch cant beat the DS line, personally. Felt like the last time Nintendo actually felt Nintendo.

So guaranteed it will surpass it, and then it will get to pass PS2 if they do a price reduction… despite Sony’s attempts to desperately keep inflating its sales a decade later… god that’s cringe

Greedy shit pigs at Nintendo are losing sleep over this, that makes me happy

The DS had the famous R4 to play DS games from an SD card. A lot of people bought it and used that, I saw it.
So the Nintendo Switch being harder to mod and do piracy (at least in later models which is the only thing they sell now), selling this much, is nothing short of a big success for Nintendo.
The Nintendo Switch is just something people want as is, no amount of emulators could replace the console. It just works and sells.
Obviously this means bad news for the Wii U fanatics; they won’t go back to that.

They could pull a 2ds xl and release a switch lite OLED to drain more sales

Interesting, where Switch has been the weakest throughout its life has in Europe. Done great everywhere else.

I wonder if they are waiting for the sales to beat DS before announcing Switch 2 lol.

This is a testament to how incredible the DS was

Don’t let Sony know. They would “find” 1 million more units for the DS

I saw a number of ppl walking out of Best Buy with switches today while I was there briefly, so it’s still selling pretty well. I have a feeling it will outsell the DS. No one standing around the xbox area though, heh. Ouch…

I really want one. I really want a switch 2.
I absolutely refuse to buy anything that relies on these stupid fucking joycons, though.

This is because a DS was more personal – each family had multiple vs a console on a tv most families just have 1 and share it

I think we can do it…there’s a lot of Black Friday sales.

…and 83.5 million behind the PS2 according to Sony’s imaginary sales updating.

Does that include switch and switch lite?

The DS was released in 2004 and the 3DS, which played DS games still, was shut down in 2023. The DS had a 20 year run with several hardware refreshes, two of which dramatically improved performance (3DS and then New 3DS). The battery life was amazing, the third party support was good, software performance was solid and never really felt sluggish, and the hardware was very reliable.
The Switch came out in 2017, and has been on the market for 7 years with only two hardware refreshes, neither of which really included performance updates. The built in software has piss poor performance (store and news app). I should NOT be sitting there waiting for things to load when I have the switch on a wired network, with very good bandwidth and very low latency. It isn’t my network making the thing slow. Games have to install and take sometimes hours to update, which I find unacceptable for a game console. For a cartridge system, I should be playing the game within 30 seconds of inserting the cartridge – any longer and the advantage of having a cartridge is gone. A game dependent on an optical disk is a little different.
The games library is big, third party support is nice, but even in its smaller form factor (the Lite) it’s too big to be mobile and the battery life is abysmal compared to the 3DS, PSP, or Vita.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Switch. I go through phases with what I play, but I have put a lot of hours into mine. But there were compromises made with the design to design it to cost, and those compromises really show their face sometimes.
I almost wish that the Switch didn’t have its own store and news app on the console itself, and instead you just bought stuff in a companion phone app, then you could download from an app library screen on the device. I find the store to be unusable if you want to scroll through the available titles.
