Just downloaded it and my brain is slowly but surely dusting off all of the knowledge my childhood self knew about this game! I can’t wait to dig into this.

I think I am going to have let this game live in my 1999 brain playing on my Compaq PC.

I wonder how this compares to RC3. I bought that on sale but I haven’t started it, I’ve heard the controls suck?
IamSneasal
For anyone that’s downloaded it, is it possible to use a USB mouse?
Reyfou
I love the game, but damn… i cant imagine playing this without a mouse and keyboard.

For those who love roller coaster tycoon, openrct 2 is amazing. It’s only on pc but it’s an active project that is actively getting updated. Lots of modern enhancements too.
Not_Pablo_Sanchez
This is one of my top 10 games of all time. However, the PC version with the Open RCT2 mod/expansion is by far the best way I have every played this game.
Albake21
As someone who still boots up RCT2open every now and then, how does classic compare? Would be awesome to have a portable version.
greenheron08
Has anyone figured out how to raise or lower paths? I can’t seem to get it to work.
lightblade13
Is unlimited money available?
SuddenlyThirsty
It’s Atari so I’m expecting it to cost $79
BajaBlastMtDew
So no sandbox mode or custom scenario? My hype has died almost immediately

Play tested it on Switch and its awsome.
The controls are realy okay, even tho it has no touch control.
But i cant complain. I played a lot of park games on consoles and this one is pretty solid.
If they could Update the movement speed for the mouse cursor this is the only thing i miss since its a little bit slow, but i got used to it after 10 min playtime.
Overall a realy good Port and still the best Rollercoaster tycoon game (the best park game overall on switch).

I started playing Forest Frontiers. Laid down a path and added a Restroom.
I noticed when I rotate the camera, the Restroom is shown in a different location and no longer attached to the path.
When I rotate the camera to the original view it shows the way I originally placed it.

I’ll never understand why this game chose RCT2’s path styling (where specific path textures/colors are forced to be linked to a certain fence style) instead of RCT1’s path styling (where you could choose the path texture/color independently of the fencing style).
Otherwise it’s a really nice compilation of the first two games.

I love this game so much.
However, I think I’ll stick with having it on my iPad… Once you get used to touch controls, you simply cannot go back.
KingButter42
Is this game worth the $25 because to me it seems like a lot of

Spouse is asking if you can still use the “cheat codes” in this game. Does anyone know?

What is it about Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2 that are so much better than any subsequent iteration?

Seems way too high. Don’t get me wrong, I love RCT and RCT2. I have thousands of hours in these games (if only I could get my old saves back), and I still play OpenRCT2 very regularly, but I absolutely hated RCT Classic on an iPad. And this version seems to be removing and adding flaws the iPad version had.
One of the biggest flaws is the small display. 10 inch is just too small for this game, even back in 1999 you’d likely have used a 15 or 17 inch monitor. And of course you can play the game on your big TV, but you’ll still have no touch support and a very slow cursor. But besides that, these type of game play so much better with a PC monitor just 1.5 feet away, rather than a TV 6+ feet away.
But most importantly, this game just begs for a mouse and keyboard. You can buy RCT2 Triple Pack on Steam or GOG for $2.49 very regularly. Install OpenRCT2 on any Windows, Mac or Linux system and you are good to go.
Now I haven’t played the Switch version and I’ve only seen video’s of the UI and cursor, but it all looks so sluggish. I think I can build at least 5x as fast with keyboard and mouse input controls.
Long story short; go play RCT on something that resembles the original intended hardware.

I really wish they added two player support. It could rival Stardew in couch co-op if they did that.
ElOsoConQueso
Is there a physical release? I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere
ChampionshipActual97
I bought this for my iPad a few years ago and it was such a joy – I may need to pick this up, again!
Misttertee_27
How does this compare to RCT3 on the Switch? I’ve logged 100 hours on that game and love it.
Etna-
How the hell does this game manage to lag? Thats so ridiculous
DJFid
LRGs release of RCT3 controls are absolutely horrid, are these any better ?

Someone commented about the lack of touch control on Atari release video and they seem to acknowledge it https://youtu.be/dT2UYi0jm7w
