It's been on my mind since 2016 when it released the month after my Japan trip. This year I decided to really put in some effort and managed to find all but Red and Green (too pricy and rare).
It's an ongoing series, one per year. I wonder if they'll ever reprint the older ones because they're currently on the most recent gen…!
What's your favorite Gen 1 character? Games, anime, manga, anything.
I like how Green/Gary is really competent and really smug about it. Usually smug and cocky characters have a big downfall, but Green is able to actually back it up and ends up being the #2 best trainer despite his flaws.
Celadon is my favorite gym and city. I was enamoured by the elevator in the department store as a kid for some reason 😅 I think Grass is the most interesting gym challenge as they have a wide array of different status moves and Vileplume's Petal Dance really showed me that unassuming Pokemon can throw down. I like the garden labyrinth design. Seems like a good place to take a break and read a book. Erika's chill aura really embodies that oasis in a busy city.
