Which acquisition would you like Nintendo to make?

Nintendo said that they dont rule out any acquisition.

So what acquisition would you be happy with if Nintendo made it? Studios or publishers already acquired do not qualify, like RARE, for example.

None. Acquisitions are generally bad for the industry.

I don’t think they really *need* to make acquisitions, and often the ones they do are things nobody would’ve ever considered(like Shiver)

But if I HAD to pick then uhh

    Grezzo?

Ubisofts looking like it might come at a good deal soon.

None. Consolidation of the industry only makes things worse for the consumers, and often the developers as well.

    Sega.

It’s time for the great rivals of the 80s and 90s to come together.

Considering they already saved HAL Laboratory from bankruptcy & Iwata and Sakurai used to work for them before, I’m surprised Nintendo hasn’t bought HAL yet.

None. Why would I want them to lock any franchises or development studios to their platform?

Not companies, But acquire IPs. Nintendo just needs to approach Microsoft and just buy full rights of Rare’s old IPs.

Microsoft, just to throw the industry a curveball

I would only want them to do it if it saves a company from going under. It’s really sad to see an Indie studio flop even if they have ambitious ideas. If there’s a day someone like Game Bakers or Sabotage is in trouble, I would want them to be saved

None but probably just absorb the ones they outsource their IPs and have been developing with them since then such as HAL, GameFreak, and Intelligent Systems.

No companies but I’ve been on my knees for them to acquire full rights to Pokemon for years now. A first party Nintendo Pokemon game with the same quality of a Mario or Zelda game, ahhh….

    Probably won’t ever happen though.

They don’t need to make acquisitions, since their partnerships with other companies are already really strong.

Gun against my head tho, probably Platinum Games. They have a creative spark that you don’t see in many videogames outside of Nintendo (barring a couple of exceptions like Astro Bot, the GOAT), plus they created Bayonetta (which has Sega publishing on it, but that could be negotiated away).

Plus, between Astral Chain, Bayonetta, Wonderful101, and Mad World, they have plenty of Nintendo-oriented offerings already. Anything for a Mad World/Anarchy Reigns sequel, Jack Cayman deserves a return. If the Switch successor is PS4 level in power and graphics, that’d be more than enough to make games that would really shine.

Only acquisitions that would save companies from going bankrupt like HAL labs

They need to acquire the inspiration to make pikmin 5

I hate how this generation of players are so comfortable at big corporation buying independent studio just to win childish console war.

Nintendo will only buy partner studios if they are at risk at being bought for someone else.

I don’t really want them to buy anyone. What I do want though is for them to make a studio that does DK and maybe Star Fox games. Kinda like how there’s a studio that does Animal Crossing and Splatoon.
NB4 anyone says Retro Studios does DK and Metroid, switching between the two every 10+ years is a no-go for me. Retro also clearly had no interest in DK after Tropical Freeze.

I don’t think there’s any fitting/”necessary” full acquisitions at the moment, but there’s a few I think they should buy 10-35% of.
Like Mercury Steam, Platinum Games, Grezzo and Level-5.
Maybe even Kadokawa and Square Enix, but those would be closer to 5-10%.

  19. MarvelManiac45213

    – Intelligent Systems
    – MercurySteam
    – Hal Lab.
    – Game Freak/The Pokémon Company/Creatures Inc.
    – Good-Feel
    – Grezzo
    – Eighting
    – Platinum Games
    – Playtonic Games

Grezzo would strictly be the HD remaster/2D Zelda team, Playtonic would be the dedicated Donkey Kong team, Eighting would work on Pikmin moving forward, Platinum would work on Bayonetta, Star Fox, and original IPs, Good-Feel would be the dedicated Yoshi and Wario Land team, MercurySteam is dedicated 2D Metroid team. The other 3 are self explanatory would continue to work on what they already work on just with more of Nintendo’s money put behind their projects.

That way we can get a continuous streak of these IPs and not wait 19 years between the next 2D Metroid, 10 + years before the next DK game, 10 years before the next Star Fox game, not wait a decade between Pikmin titles, and consistent 2D Zelda titles while the main Nintendo team makes the 3D ones.

    Hahahahaha…Hahaha haha….  Hahahahahahaha….. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Nintendo doesn’t deserve to buy out any top tier teams, they’re a shit business partner. Anyone with any sense would rather take freedom over the iron grip that Nintendo will take over your company.
