The Game Awards have come and gone without even a mention of the Switch successor, so it's time for a new speculation thread.
That means that there will be an announcement between December, 2024 and March, 2025.
Nintendo has announced it will be backwards compatible with the Switch's software.
Please keep all questions, discussion and speculation of the next Nintendo console confined to this megathread. All threads about this topic will be removed and redirected to this thread.
Please note that nothing is verified about the next Nintendo console except for the fact that it will be announced during this fiscal year. All information about its specs, name, etc. are just speculation and/or wishful thinking.

I think it’s pretty clear now that 2024 is **not** the year for an announcement. Nintendo still technically has a couple weeks to prove us wrong but I doubt it.
I’m expecting an announcement in the last week of March. Seems like waiting until the very last minute is the type of thing Nintendo would do.
i predict either february in a direct, or some time in march.
Yeah we’re definitely fully on to Switch 2 watch now.
On other news, really hoping that Okami sequel is confirmed for it some time after it’s fully announced. Hate for it to skip given the original came to Wii and Switch.
For now, I’ll guess January for a presentation like the Switch did.
Nintendo went radio silent in this year TGA, which is understandable because theyre saving their games for Switch 2.
My prediction for Switch 2, announcement + trailer at March, release at July.
I predict an announcement between today and the end of March. With a release date of sometime in 2025.

I mean at this point we don’t need to specukste anymore
We know basically everything about the hardware
From internals to how it looks
The games are the big unknowns including the OS. We know the OS is based on Horizon but thats it
Aside from that the C-Button, is an unknown too
As for the main unit. We know everything. Like everything everything.
I have no evidence to back this up, but I believe that it will, in some capacity, play games.
I still say January reveal with a March release
3rd week of March reveal, confirm some games will be cross gen releases including a new Mario Kart, end of Summer release for £429
Oblivion remaster as a launch title
Before they worry about new Nintendo and robbing money from everyone maybe try making games or at least just add the old games where tf is twilight princess
June reveal for November release
I think it will have games.
Reveal in January because the investors meeting is at the beginning of February
The “Thank you for joining us now and into the future.” message at the Game Awards felt like a “You don’t have to wait for much longer.”
I predict the announcement will be made shortly after we’ve exceeded the maximum possible return window for Switch systems bought as Christmas presents.

My nephew and sister keep asking about when this is coming. Cmon Nintendo give us more information on preorder already.
