Although closely related to their traditional counterparts, due to allopatric speciation, the two species have diverged into separate paths. Traditional Gligar live high in the mountains, where they can freely sail on updrafts, while Slygar have adapted to the desert valleys below, preferring to hide in the cover of darkness.
Slygar: A relentless predator of the desert, perfectly adapted to stalking and striking in silence. It clings in the shade of canyon walls and overhangs, waiting motionlessly for hours, its segmented tail poised to deliver a lethal sting. When prey ventures too close, it drops silently from above, landing with an ominous thud. Its barbed claws clamp down tightly, leaving no room for escape as it injects venom through the sharp stinger at the end of its sinuous tail.
This Gligar variant is known for creating burrows into soft sand or hiding under jagged rocks during the day, emerging only under the cover of darkness. Its venom is a potent paralytic, leaving its prey alive but immobile, helpless to resist as it drags its quarry back to its nest. Its predatory instincts are heightened by its ability to sense vibrations in the ground, alerting it to nearby prey even without sight.
Slyscor: The undisputed ruler of its desert domain. Larger and more menacing, its heavy exoskeleton is pitch black with chitinous ridges. It moves swiftly and silently across rocky terrain, using its hooked feet to scale cliffs with ease. Its segmented tail is now armed with a pair of jagged stingers that deliver an agonizing venom capable of dissolving flesh.
This dark predator is feared for its ambush tactics: it lies in wait beneath loose sand or rubble, erupting from its hiding place in a blur of claws and venom when prey strays too close. Legends speak of these Gliscor dragging victims into deep caves, leaving no trace save for the faint scent of decay in the air. Once it marks its territory, nothing can escape its grasp, for it is both a patient hunter and a brutal executioner.
