I bought a switch pro controller on eBay which a business-registered seller offered a price slightly cheaper than the average retail price in my country.
I thought that it would be a genuine one but came to disappointment when I unboxed it. Especially that it cannot be updated and I am stuck at 0% update progress proves this is a fake product.
The seller offered a half price refund and I decided to go with it to save me from further hassle.
Here are what I found in a check and feel test with Youtube videos and online articles.
-
Arrows on D-pad are misaligned towards to the centre.
-
Blurry image on the side of box.
-
Cable connector is not smooth.
-
Fonts on controller are printed out of chassis.
-
Letters A B X Y on buttons are thick rather than supposedly fit and thin.
-
Purple ring surrounding home button. Easter egg message is very hard to see and it appears not the official one.
-
Screws are very cheaply made.

From the photos it looks just like my original controller as far as I can tell
Wow, scammed through eBay… shocking.
Googly controller
There’s an epidemic of fake stuff out there. Buying on ebay or from 3rd-party sellers on other online storefronts practically guarantees you’ll get scammed sometimes. It’s possible to get a fake from a reputable large established seller (they can get scammed on inventory too, though far less likely), but at least then you can get a full refund with no hassle.
