It’s cheap as hell and doesn’t occupy a TV or a desk at home.

It functions as both a handheld device and a home console, providing flexibility for gaming anywhere.

The Switch offers many games suitable for all ages, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario Odyssey.
Great for family bonding through multiplayer games.
3. Educational Benefits:
Certain games, like Brain Training or Minecraft, can improve problem-solving skills, creativity, and hand-eye coordination.
4. Portability:
Perfect for long trips or visits to friends and family. It can keep your friend entertained in a variety of settings.
5. Budget-Friendly Game Options:
Offers free-to-play games like Fortnite, Pokémon Unite, and others, so additional costs can be minimized.

Cons of the Nintendo Switch
1. Initial Cost:
The console and additional accessories (like extra controllers or games) can be expensive.
2. Online Subscription Fee:
Accessing multiplayer features requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription (about $20/year).
3. Game Prices:
Popular games tend to stay at high prices for a long time, making it less budget-friendly in the long run.
4. Fragility of Joy-Cons:
The Joy-Con controllers are prone to “drift” (an issue where they detect movement even when not being touched), which might require repair.
5. Screen Time Concerns:
As with any gaming console, excessive use could impact focus on studies or physical activities.
6. Limited Graphics:
Compared to more powerful consoles like the PlayStation or Xbox, the Switch has lower graphics capabilities.

How to Pitch It to Your Parents
1. Focus on Responsibility:
Promise to balance gaming with schoolwork and chores.
Highlight the parental control features for peace of mind.
2. Family Involvement:
Emphasize that the whole family can enjoy the console together with games like Mario Party or Just Dance.
3. Educational Angle:
Mention the educational and creative potential of certain games.
4. Savings Opportunity:
Compare the affordability of the Switch to other consoles and show interest in starting with just one or two games.

I’m 25. All my life I played on PC and Xbox. Never considered Nintendo as proper console with all these childish flash like games. My better half bought a lite for herself since she really wanted to play ACNH. Tried hers and immediately fell in love with it. Bought myself an oled. Since then I truly enjoy how these games involve you in the gameplay. Mario party games and switch sports are our favorites. Even my parents joined us and we play every weekend together.
