Those Wii graphics are gonna be crisp. $80 well spent!

/s for anyone confused. This is too much. Bundled with tropical freeze and I’d hop in. But that’s $79.99 still here too. So $80 each for two games that are 10+ years old is nutty.

  2. Quotidian_User

    $60USD?!! Fuck that.

I would have considered it close to that price if Tropical Freeze was added as well. Not as a single individual game.

  3. JoMax213

$60 ☠️ This whole game is a set up. A trap. A distraction to throw our scent off before the Switch 2 gets revealed

  4. StrangerNo484

They should have bundled Tropical Freeze and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD together, then I’d have considered paying this fairly high price.

Or, and this might sound crazy for Nintendo, give a brand new Donkey Kong game that revolutionizes the series again, especially a 3D one.

I agree with the outrage on all the other commenters here, Crash Trilogy is 40 bucks for the remake of the first 3 games, same with the Spyro trilogy.

Show Nintendo really want their 20 extra bucks

  6. Intelligent_Stick_

Get it on sale fellas https://www.dekudeals.com/

  7. arsinoe716

$60? FUCK THAT!!! For $60 they should be including all the Donkey Kong Country games!

  8. Hoodlum8600

$60 is way too much for a games third release but I did preorder it for the pen holder barrel lol

  9. InfiltrationRabbit

Waiting for the Black Friday holiday sale of this game going down to $30’bucks. That’s ridiculous

  10. VilenguardGal

Im gonna complain about the price, but I’d be kidding myself if I say Im not buying it day 1, country returns is my favourite Nintendo game oat

  11. Maui_IDW

This should have been 40 at most like they did with Metroid Prime

  12. anewfoundmatt

A younger me would have jumped at this so fast. I’m tired of the gaming industry banking on remastered classics.

  13. TheThrasherJD

“How DARE Nintendo ask a price that we will all pay anyway even though we constantly complain about the prices.”

Idk why you all are surprised at this tbh…

On Wii the game was around 3.27 GB. On 3DS it was 2.1 GB. Are the new textures they’re using really that big to have the game occupying basically more than double of its original size? Nintendo games are usually incredibly well optimized to save space.

I don’t see that big of a difference in footage comparisons, and sometimes the HD version had new textures of… questionable quality compared to the Wii.

The more and more I see from the game, the more I see Forever Entertainment’s “quality seal” stamped all over it.

  15. BBOUVARD88

Title of the game should say “Donkey Kong Country Returns at a full price!”

  16. SpaceBiking

Marketplace three weeks later it is.

  17. LuTheLunatic

They did the same with luigis mansion 2. Just don’t buy them. I still have both original games and they are still fine

  18. Material-Mongoose-94

I wouldn’t mind if it were for my unanswered wish for Donkey Kong 64 HD 🙁

  19. Dense_Cellist9959

I’m reminded again that Metroid Prime 1 is $40. Remaster pricing is weird.

  20. Memphisrexjr

I can’t believe this wasn’t a trilogy. It took them 15 years to release two titles that were remastered. We basically got this to line up with Nintendo Land expansion.
Give us a new Country game already.

  21. thatkaratekid

Absolutely insane to me people keep saying “I’m not paying full price for a 15 year old game” when the game is full price specifically because it’s 15 years old. Many many switch owners were not born yet when this originally came out. If you had this on wii, you’re not the target audience.

  22. BlockOfRawCopper

$60 for a fourteen year old wii game with nothing else bundled in, great job Nintendo!

  23. Framed-Photo

The wii game is like 3.5 GB so I guess that makes sense with better textures and shit.

Still not paying full retail for a game I played *literally* 15 years ago though lol.

  24. MagnusBrickson

Suggestion: instead of playing Donkey Kong Country Returns, you can instead return to Donkey Kong Country.

  25. volunteerdoorknob

Wasn’t the game like $50 when it released on Wii? I would be more willing to pay the full $60 if it was a complete overhaul, but as of now it just looks like an upscaled version of the original

  26. Phisherman10

You can get this game for like $15 on the 3DS. Same with Luigi’s Mansion 2.

  27. WangChiEnjoysNature

Insane a port like this is full price

    Pass

  28. sackboydjso

well, im glad to still have my 3DS around

  29. TorbofThrones

    Yes it’s overpriced…but it’s an excellent game, I don’t mind giving extra $20 for it. Can’t wait!

  30. Dimmadarn

I really hope people don’t buy this at launch. I hope it underperforms so there is a price drop. I feel like if *this* sells well, then all future remakes and re-releases are doomed to be a minimum of $60 forever. $10+ price increase on an HD release of a 10 year old game, DK hasn’t even had any new games in like a decade. Even if this bombs, DK has an upcoming Universal Studios land, so it’s not like they’re gonna stop promoting the franchise

  31. ShopCartRicky

I’ve already got it preordered. Downvote away strangers.
