:puts away pitchfork and douses torch: sigh….

  2. Whoa!! I honestly thought we would end up waiting much longer after it didn’t happen about 12 hours ago

  3. Toktogul

cool, backward compatible with the switch!

  4. massiveattacks21

Rest, weary gentlefolk. Your watch is done.

  5. ZenkaiZ

Thank christ it’s just called the Nintendo Switch 2.

    IT’S NOT THAT HARD

  6. mastafishere

April 2 will be the official direct.

Also confirmed it will play physical cartridges from Switch 1.

  7. bizarro_kvothe

    TLDR:
New Mario kart shown for 5 seconds

No new info on C button or sensors (although the button is blank in the official renders)

    Direct on April 2nd

  8. haightor

4/2/2025 for a direct? Is that April or February? 😩

  9. Captain_Westeros

    Switch 2: Bigger and Switchier

  10. GooseSl4yer2003

Holy shit was that Mario Kart 9?!!?!

  11. RE4PER_

It’s actually hilarious how the leaks were spot on.

  12. Faile-Bashere

Looks great. Every leak was accurate. Magnetic joycons. Larger screen. Dock.

Excited they called it Switch 2 instead of Switch U. lol.

Switch 2 and a New Mario Kart!
As someone with an original switch since 2017/2018 it’s the perfect time for an upgrade!

  14. NeonAtlas

It’s been near 11 long years, but we’re finally getting a proper new Mario Kart.

I really like this design. Very sleek. And the backwards compatibility is huge for me because my physical Switch library is pretty big.

  16. TheDoctorDB

Will play physical AND *digital* Switch games. NSO was confirmed but our entire digital library confirmed? That’s pretty good news.Ā

ā€œNot all games will be compatibleā€ is hopefully more akin to the PS5 not playing all PS4 games while I’ve never actually seen one not work. Probably just a couple rare outliersĀ

  17. Throw-Me-Again

Such a weird way to announce a brand new console. No fanfare or build up, just a short 2 minute teaser.

  18. pablo_montoya

Completely identical to the leaks, even the logo, the way it sits in the dock… unbelievable how we knew nearly everything about this thing already.

  19. mjmannella

I get why they call it the Switch 2, but it just feels extremely un-Nintendo to go with that naming convention

  20. holyherbalist

They are being sneaky. Not showing the C button!

  21. samination

is it just me, or does the asthetic of that video feel… non-nintendoish?

  22. xcore21z

This probably controversial but not really fan of the joypad being plug in like that compare to the current “slide in” style

  23. Tragic_Comic7

The video did a great job of showing the differences between the Switch 1 & 2. Definitely less confusing than when the Wii U was announced.

  24. Yuwenn8

    >New Mariokart

    NINTENDO MY BODY IS YOURS

  25. DjKennedy92

Woohoo looks like I won’t need to buy new pro controllers

  26. Who_Vintude

I already planned on buying this day one

  27. MysticLithuanian

Everyone’s excited about the switch 2 but like more importantly NEW MARIO KART!!!!

  28. quarterslicecomics

Most of the Mario characters look about the same albeit slightly stylized, but DK has a very different face. A day or two ago, someone posted a link to a calendar with artwork of him having that new face.

  29. TyLion8

Wait their was more then 12 karts on that track I think…. Going to 16 or 24 racers in a race??

  30. seasalting

All I want from this is to resolve joycon drift

  31. Zealousideal_Rub5587

Nintendo really hammered in the ā€œIt’s a different system this timeā€ by showing off exactly what has changed. They definitely learned from their Wii U days.

Of course price and software are more relevant to consumers. Mario Kart 9 is a solid start.
