Pokemon Trading Card Game

I just got insanely lucky at a garage sale and didn’t realize it for hours.

For some backstory I went up to the city (Dallas) for a fun day with the guys and we found a garage sale sign. We got there and I purchased an ex legend maker with “assorted packs” from the very sweet lady that was doing the garage sale.

She said her son had gone off to college and she was selling some of his stuff. I bought it for $40 and then left and I hadn’t opened it up until just now and I’m shocked.

I’m aware of the WOTC prices being quite high but I have no knowledge of the EX sets or anything else in here.

Does anyone have advice on what to do with them or how much they’re worth?

Rip to bro at college. Thousands of dollars of packs if everything ends up legit. Search tcgplayer, look up pack names you can find prices/recent sales there

I wouldn’t use tcgplayer for sealed packs

You’ll get a better idea of the market by looking through last sold on eBay.

Look at the 3 most recent last sold. Find the avg. Ofc if you find one that is like 200,800,950, you wouldn’t take that 200 into consideration.

Man her son’s gonna be pissed when he finds out she sold it for 40 bucks…

That’s some serious ptsd for the dude at college. Awesome deal for you tho.

like 10k or more here wtf hes going to be fuming

$40 for some of the markets most expensive vintage packs is wild. What’s more is her sons in college and she sold his life saving away lol. One man’s prized collection became another man’s lifetime treasure.

Man you screwed that old lady hard 🙁

I’d feel so bad to make a profit of someone trying to raise money for her son… welp, that’s America for ya.

I’d take them back … that’s basically theft in my book. The lady had no idea of their value and I doubt she’d have parted with them if she knew, or her kid knew.

This can’t be real but if it is then her son is going to be distraught when he finds out. That’s so sad.

I hope this is bait, if it’s real this is really sad. I hope you bring them back because that woman had no idea what she was selling.

You should probably go back to that old lady and try to get contact information from the son/grandson. If they were aware Grandma was selling their stuff, cool keep it. But if they didn’t know the good thing would be getting them back to the owner.

Headliner in the news next week: son kills mom over selling his priceless sealed collection 🫠

I think her son also had no idea what he left at her place, this could pay for his college and much more

I personally would return them and tell her the real value. I personally would feel scummy if those packs are legit and I bought them for that cheap.

Not everybody is the same though.

A good deed often comes around.

Dude, you need to take those back. Some serious bad karma if you don’t.

if I was the son, I’d be fuming. But that’s honestly a reason why you don’t keep secret stashes like this without telling your mom. Also kinda dick-move of the mom to just sell shit without sending her son pictures of what and maybe asking for the prices he expects to get.

Don’t do this brother. This could really damage the relationship between the mom and the son when he finds out. Life’s too short to take advantage this lady trying to do something nice for her som

I buy and sell stuff for a living on ebay. Low morals to take something like this when you were told he’s at college. I would have been honest with the mother about value and what she was doing to her son. If he’s just now going off to college that means he purposely bought these vintage packs to keep. His mother might not know better but you do.

To anyone that reads this (likely nobody). I’ll be driving up there either tomorrow or Thursday to return them/buy some of them for an actually reasonable price.

Little skeptical about the son going to college story and him having jungle and original packs. Those from when I was a kid and I’m 36. Went to college from 2007 to 2011.

That’s one way to 1000x your profit lol

It’s hard to believe a college student had been able to collect/buy this. Unless they are on their 3rd PhD. More than likely they are in their first four years. Which means these would have been incredibly difficult/expensive to get by the time they would have got their hands on these. Unlikely they would have been able to collect these unless they lucked into them or the family was very wealthy. But the narrative for the sale was to help raise money for college at a garage sale. I doubt the family/kid would be unaware of the price and leave these unattended without the parents being aware of the small fortune sitting in a box. Brings me to two conclusions the kid stole them and the parents would know who they got them from or you are lying. If you are telling the truth and decide to keep them I hope this clears your mind of any doubt.

Man I don’t think I could let her sell those. I’d tell her

  24. PlasticLobotomy

Bro you robbed that lady blind.

  25. cjamesflet

I’d say go back and pay her a fair price or return them. Funny how sweet people are always the ones getting shafted

  26. kifflomkifflom

Now THIS would be worth fighting a crowd in Costco for

Made up story for clout, anyone going to college now is too young to have that collection
