Nintendo Switch

Twin-stick like Robotron 2086 or SmashTV

There are many games classified as "Twin-Stick Shooter" but I'm looking for something very specific.

I'd like to play a game where the right stick shoots automaticaly just by pointing the stick, not by having also press a button.

Games like:

  • Robotron 2086 (the OG?)
  • SmashTV
  • Geometry Wars
  • I Made A Game With Zombies In It
  • The Prairie arcade game in the Saloon in Stardew Valley

NOT games like:

  • Enter the Gungeon
  • Blazing Ducks

Again, looking for a game where no (or minimal) controls are needed besides two analog sticks.

EDIT:

Here is a list of everything suggested so far

The Binding of Isaac

Black Hole

Brotato

Crimsonland

Death Ray Manta

Galaxy Champions TV

Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story

Satryn Dx

Vostok Inc

Xeno Crisis

    Death Ray Manta.

It also looks and sounds amazing on Switch OLED, if you happen to have one.

  2. SixCardRoulette

There’s a perfect conversion of Llamatron 2112 in the Jeff Minter collection, if you want to go super retro!

  3. I think brotato has an option to use the second stick? By default it’s a single stick shooter where the character automatically shoots. If you dig it, also try vampire survivors which afaik does not have the option for the robotron style second stick to aim.

Xeno Crisis. It‘s basically smash TV as the Indie Game successor. What a game!

Xeno Crisis and Galaxy Champions TV play a lot like Smash TV, and Galaxy Champions is currently on sale for $2.

    Satryn is a Robotron homage.

Minishoot Adventures is a twin-stick shooter with a Zelda-like overworld and progression for something different.

Black Hole, Space twin stick shooter, functioning with two sticks mostly

Huge robotron fan here.stardew Valley, there is an arcade cabinet in the saloon with a game called “Legend of the Prairie King”. It is insanely fun, and very similar to original robotron.

Also insanely hard. The creator of SV just beat it like a month ago after 12 years of release.

Satyrn DX. Robotron on acid. I love it.

I will also take this place to lament the lack of a Midway Arcade collection on the Switch. To me the Switch is perfect for arcade games and the fact that I can’t play Robotron, Sinistar, Defefender, Joust, and Rootbeer Tapper on it is dumb.

Wish someone would port Virtual On to the switch.
