True, I can’t see them ever changing from “Switch”. Same as PlayStation with the numbers. Xbox tried to do a Nintendo and change their names every time, but it just doesn’t work because well, their names are bad.

Honestly this is conceptually huge. inb4 Switch 5 is on the way and we’re arguing about what kinds of VR games it can run

I’l at least give some respect to the ex president being understanding about its name.
I know there’s several reasons Wii U failed, but one reason was that the name with the added U letter didn’t really make it obvious that it was a new console. That and the way they presented the console.
With Switch it’s immediately made clear the new console is a direct successor and upgrade to the previous one, without changing too much to the point of being unrecognizable.

Kids growing up now are going to see the Switch and Switch 2 the way I saw the NES and SNES.

Its so funny how they went from the wii to wii u, and that branding was a complete disaster, and they learned to keep it simple and just name their next sequel console 2

Honestly I think it’s just because there’s not gonna be a huge new gimmick. It’s largely just gonna be a better performing Switch.
I think eventually Nintendo will make a huge new gimmick for a future console and the name will be something completely unique again.

They dropped the ball by not going with the obvious. Super Switch 2 by Nintendo or whatever other way to phrase it
