DIY Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Battery Upgrade: A Non-Standard Replacement (No HAC-006 Required)

I successfully replaced the standard Nintendo Joy-Con battery—which had swollen—with a non-standard, generic drone battery. All it took was soldering in the connector, and now it reads perfectly in the Switch menu. I'm eager to see how long this fix lasts.

I selected the replacement cell based on three criteria:

  1. Size: It must match the original's dimensions (a slightly smaller cell is acceptable, but anything larger won’t fit).
  2. Voltage: It needs to have the same nominal voltage (3.7 volts).

I opted for this cell: LiPo Cell 3.7V 450mAh

It’s a generic cell that meets all the criteria. I paid approximately 6.5 EUR for it, compared to the ~20 EUR iFixIt version—about a quarter of the cost.
