Yeah that make sense. I feel dumb.
Also, if it put the controllers on the “wrong side”, i still can drop it in the dock.
It also mean that i can put 2 Left Joycons to have both buttons in the middle.

They really thought of everything if this is the intentional usage

This means the Switch 3 will have two USB ports and two headphone jacks.

Fuck yes I want to be able to stand it up while charging

That’s so simple but it makes perfect sense. I love it!

I made a post about how it would be really cool if the switch 1 could do this 7 years ago and got a bunch of replies telling me that I’m a fucking idiot.

low-key great decision

Ahh, It would make the kickstand overextending in the trailer make more sense; it can extend to a point where the console can be put in tabletop mode “Upside down”
Feels like a weird but ultimately very “Nintendo” thing. Given its got USB ports on top and bottom, I am having difficulty deciding how this would be useful, however.

This is a great addition. Ports on top is better when docked, ports on bottom is better in handheld.
But, how did they patent something that phones/tablets have been doing for 10+ years?

Maybe I’m in the minority, but the switch has never felt comfortable to me in handheld mode, I’d prefer if they made a model that’s stripped down to the console parts (no screen/dock) that’s shipped with a pro controller. A boy can dream.
Edit: oof I guess it’s controversial enough to be immediately downvoted – yall can have your handheld models with the joycons, I just want another model/a little box to play switch games without trying to be a portable gaming device.

I just need the volumes and power buttons to not be next to each other

I hope they keep bluetooth audio as simple as it was on Switch, maybe allow companies like Apple to use the special features of their headphones.
I exclusively used airpods when playing in handheld mode

Think about it. It wouldn’t make any sense to be able to rotate the screen if the Joy-Con themselves can’t snap in on either side of the device, because then you’d be playing with upside down controls with your palms resting on the R and L buttons.

Salvation from the awful feeling of your charger poking your belly when you play AT LAST!

I’m not the only person still using jack audio ports… right?

Seeing how the Switch 2 is getting some major QOL upgrades, I have another idea: What if it came with 2 Bluetooth adapters, so it could dedicate one to Bluetooth audio, leaving the other one for controller support. Then it wouldn’t have the 2 controller limit while using Bluetooth audio that the Switch 1 had.

awesome!!

So like, what is the purpose of having both this feature and 2 USB ports? Like don’t get me wrong both are cool and useful I’m just confused because it seems redundant

I just want to know if we’ll see old games perform better besides strong arming through it.

This may sound impressive, but if you think about it, any device can be rotated to change the position of ports. 🤓

Now I’m wondering… can you put the joy-cons on facing the wrong way (analog sticks on the back)? Completely useless (unless you make a couch co-op game where one player sees the screen and dictates while the other controls)

Interesting. If that is the case, why did they bother with the second USB C port on the top? I thought that was meant to allow charging in table top mode?
alex_dlc
Then why does it have an extra USBC on top? I thought it was so you could still charge it while it’s in desktop mode, but if you can just flip it around it would t be necessary
CapCapital
I never would’ve thought to do this. Amazing.
AidBaid
You can do this on the Switch 1.

Works for the head phone but makes no point for the USB c port. Because we already have one on both sides
