Umbreon bc my first ever shiny was named after my late cat Digit. Digit who was unfortunately declawed by my parents, had no claws, was going blind, and had kidney disease but jumped and slapped a great Pyrenees when the dog barked at me, standing protectively between us. He was named Digit bc he was a Hemingway with thumbs. Growing up, he was my protector. Reminded me of Umbreon in that one GameCube game I had.

Despite being a dark type, Umbreon reminds me of Digit. He wasn’t cuddly but he was always there

metagross, because this giant alien spacecraft isn’t deviantart massacred

  4. RevolutionaryJuice24

Froslass is my favorite. I love Japanese folklore and mythology so it being based on the Yuki-Onna is amazing. Ghost and Ice are coincidentally my two favorite types. I love its beautiful but deadly concept and design. I grew up watching the anime and seeing Paul’s Froslass fight Pikachu is one of my favorite moments in the anime. Also its cry is one of the best in the game, so beautiful but so creepy.

In terms of my appearance, I have short messy black hair, wear rectangular glasses, and have light or medium brown skin since I’m Filipino. I usually wear a charcoal heather zip up hoodie, black shirt and dark blue jeans and black platform boots. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

Spheal is the best because out of every pokemon, it is the one that is Spheal.

  6. Slowbro or Slowpoke, cuz their lazy little guys and I am a lazy big guy. It got my wavelenght, you know 🙂

  7. One-Cellist5032

Slaking, because he’s big goofy looking sloth gorilla who has so much potential locked behind being a lazy bum. He’s like my spirit animal.

All this is only further enhanced by the childhood memory of being super excited to catch the cute sloth in the first forest to join my team, him evolving into Vigoroth (whose just plain cool), and then going full on team carrying powerhouse.

I’m tall (6ft 4) with a dad bod, with short unkept blonde hair, and glasses, and wear casual clothes, and never shoes (either barefoot or sandals).

    Corviknight.

It took me a while to accept that I find birds to be fascinating, and it took me even more to be confident about sharing that with other people.

Enter Corviknight. And entire line inspired in my favorite family of birds (corvids, because of how absurdly smart they can be), with my favorite type (Steel, since my first games in Gen 2), and referencing medieval knights (what’s not to love about knights in armor?). Loved the concept so much that it got me back into the franchise after skipping gens 6 and 7, it quickly became such a favorite that I’m yearning for it to continue being available in future games.

Besides, being able to share what my favorite Pokémon is made me more confident in admitting that I like birds as a whole. Been on a couple bird-watching tours in the last few years, and they were incredible. All thanks to an armored raven.

Love the sketches. Heaps of cool choices of fav pokemon!

Seismitoad. Me and her vibe out to music while we look at lake sediments in the lab. I’m an organic geochemist and climatologist. Seismitoad because of her strength and her water/ground typing helps me get the mud from the lakes when we’re out in the field. We take it back to the lab where we look at how the environment has changed due to people and pokemon. We use our research to see what can be done to protect and conserve the wild pokemon and their habitat. It is rewarding research and I couldn’t do it without her!

  10. Tension27

Chandelure, without question is my favorite. The fact that its fires are used in its lore to hypnotize opponents. And then in turn, Litwick uses its fires to lure people to the ghost world to feed on them. I love the grim idea that Pokémon actively prey on people and other mon’s, and its the “ghastly” realization that these ghosts will do anything to live. Double in the fact that Ghost types are easily some of my favorite, and it was an easy rocket into my soul to make it the top mon for me.

  11. at-last1

Mimikyu has always felt like a queer allegory to me, a pokemon that isn’t allowed to show its true face felt very real to me. So Mimikyu became a fave for lil ol closeted me when I was growing up

  12. Feathertusk

Ludicolo is my absolute favorite, but it wasn’t always so. Way back when I played sapphire I hated it and thought shiftry was cool, like who wants a big silly pokemon when there are “cool” ones. Fast forward to Y and I see a lombre, and I’m like hey I got a team going of silly guys like Xatu, Heliolisk, and Hawlucha, why not fill the type game with another mon to fit the theme.

I ended up being blown away. Ludicolo is not only great due to type defense, but also great from a diverse movepool that can attack just about any mon. My favorite part now is how absolutely silly it looks, and there are fewer joys than ripping through the elite four, champions, and friends dragon teams with my dancing silly kappa shaped friend.

  13. R3DR4V3N420

Ninetails. Can light my blunts, help keep warm in the winter, and fire is necessary for survival. She can help hunt as well

  14. zequerpg

Gengar, hunter was my fav as a kid since I could not make him evolve. As a grown up man I did what I should and bought 2 of every console so I can trade and evolve by myself.

  15. KumiiTheFranceball

I have too many favourites !! But I choose Vaporeon because it’s my first ever Pokémon card & I won the Elite 4 with it on Pokémon X ( I wish I didn’t delete my save.. ). Super strong Water-type mon & peak design.

  16. SinusMonstrum

    Tropius

    FREE👏DINOSAUR👏NECK👏FRUIT👏

Also it flies and that’s always cool!

  17. Chance-Armadillo-333

Corviknight is best because it’s the flying medieval dark knight.

“Because he’s the hero Galar deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A Corviknight.”

  18. Jepemega

Melmetal. He’s such a big cool looking dude but still looks kinda cute in a weird way to me? Gives strong “gentle giant” vibes. I love his faint animation of just melting into goop!

  19. floofmoth

my favourite has got to be haunter. the gengar line has been a favourite of mine on and off over the years since i first discovered pokemon when I was younger, but haunter has never been my “all time” favourite. in sv, I decided to try and shiny hunt a gastly for the giggles, and after what felt like *weeks* of trying, I finally found her!! she’s been my baby ever since. I evolved her into a haunter, but didn’t evolve her further. since then, I’ve adored haunter with all my heart, and over all of my favourites (basically all the other pokemon that have ever been in my teams), haunter is my #1!!

appearance, I would say long mousy hair, (unfortunately) pale asf, and green eyes.

  20. ShrimpCocktailHo

Favorite: Latias – one of the only legendaries that’s explicitly a girl, can turn invisible, and is a great beefy SpAttacker. Also is weirdly always thirsting for the main character in movies and comics lol.

Me: 30yo, thin buzz cut dude with glasses and a big honkin nose.

  21. Longjumping_Big3659

Greninja because of his Ash-Greninja form and that big water shuriken is so gnarly

  22. DeadbeatGremlin

Zigzagoon, just very cute and spiky

  23. NinjaK2k17

Lunatone is the best. it has such a simple design that very much says “there is far more to me than meets the eye” and the shiny gives it a very pretty blue eye, especially in its introductory generation where the sprite work makes its eye look so much bigger. it doesn’t have the greatest stats, but that just means it has potential for a future evolution down the line, which i think is also potentially great.

  24. SummonerRed

    Haunter is Pokemon perfected.

Haunter is a Pokemon that has shown both the goofy side of Pokemon as living beings in multiple anime episodes where Haunter just wants to have fun despite what its “spooky” nature would suggest while also showing just how terrifying a Ghost can actually be such as in the Pokemon Generations series on YouTube displayed where it was one of the primary haunters of the abandoned manor.

Most Pokemon are often completely overshadowed by their final forms in terms of performance, but not Haunter! In Pokemon Stadium it often has movesets superior to Gengar and at one point it was even preferred over Gengar in VGC due to pairing up perfectly with Garchomp, as Gengar no longer was immune to Ground types. I think Haunter’s design is also superior, the floating nature and disembodied hands gives it a more chilling design whereas Gengar can often come across as a Clefable knockoff.

Finally: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee allows you to be carried by a Haunter but not Gengar, enough said!

  25. IronSeraph

Raikou, there’s not much cooler than a lightning Sabre tooth tiger

  26. Togedemaru

Just after sun and moon had released I was told that I needed to have a surgery done on my heart. I have a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and it is when the left ventricle which the oxygenated blood has to pass through is very small, due to how I was growing up and lived an active lifestyle the doctors thought it would be best to implant an ICD/Pacemaker into my chest to shock me and wake up my heart if I faint which is and was of very high possibility.

I was scared whenever I heard that it would “shock me” since I was still young, it didn’t help that they said the force of the shock would be that of 800 volts which is similar to cardiac arrest.

I started watching videos about sun and moon since I didn’t yet have a device to play it on. When I was watching these videos I came across Togedemaru the Roly-Poly Pokemon. Togedemaru is a steel and electric type which I found really nice since my device was made of metal. Togedemaru reminded me of myself and I’ve always had an emotional attachment to my cute little ball of shocks and metal.

  27. PaperCoyote9142

My favorite pokemon is shiny sylveon because it’s my favorite colors and my first every shiny eevee I named it Paka, which is the name of my cat/best friend

  28. samakkins

    Chimchar!

I could go over so many things that make Chimchar the best, but I’ll do my best to condense them.

First, he’s got the cuteness and likeability of all first-stage starter pokemon obviously. But I feel that Chimchar is the cutest based on their mischievous nature – he is a monkey after all! They’re silly and fun, and I think they’re the perfect partner for a new trainer.

Secondly, Chimchar was the first pokemon – from the first video game – I ever had. That will always hold a special place in my heart. I just found my childhood cartridge!

Third, Chimchar’s arc in the show with Ash is some of the best content of the entire series, by far. The final battle with Electivire once he evolves into Infernape is fantastic!

    So yeah 🙂

  29. M4LK0V1CH

Muk is best boi because the stink slime just wants to be loved

  30. _TwinLeaf_

Torterra because the entire species helps smaller pokemon by letting them live on their back. They can even grow food up there

  31. Kingofawesom999

Aggron is a freaking steel dragon STEEL. DRAGON. Tell me that’s not badass and cool as hell.

He also gets a mega that makes him even cooler. He becomes a hulking mass of steel.

Also Aron is a cute lil guy who eats bulzozers for breakfast.

If we going for my newest liked pokemon, galarian farfetch’d is so cool.

Just look at his stoic face and stanced up self with a big ass leek. Definitely the best pokemon added in almost 10 years imo.

  32. Hidden-Sky

Latias manages to blend a dragon and fighter jet together while also being completely adorable! She also excels in defense and support ability, able to take hits while healing herself and her team of both damage and status effects and can also provide certain buffs like Tailwind, boosting her team’s speed. Highly adaptable and intelligent, able to change her appearance through illusions and change her own typing to match. A kind and selfless heart, she is even willing to sacrifice herself to bring back a seriously injured ally – but this will make me very sad.

  33. MaxOutput

Electivire has been my all favorite non-starter pokemon since I started playing and watching Pokemon with Platinum and the Sinnoh seasons when I was young. Ever since then, Electivire has been my go-to favorite (non-starter), I can’t tell you why it became my favorite outside of pure cool factor as a kid. I personally blame Paul’s Electivire for being so cool to younger me.

Anyways, Electivire is one of the coolest and arguably strongest pokemon if we talking lorewise is due to the sheer power of its electrical voltage. According to the Ultra Moon pokedex entry, it could power a big city for a year. Its sheer electrical power is hard to measure, which makes me always assume that outside of legendaries, it is the strongest electric type pokemon. Outside of lore it’s design is just so cool, while the anime had it a little rounder than I like this cool electric yeti has been my favorite pokemon for all the years I’ve played Pokemon. It’s also one reason why outside of Platinum being my first pokemon game, that I love Sinnoh.

Tldr: A mixture of awesome design, youthful cool factor bias, and bias towards Sinnoh make Electivire my favorite.

Sinnoh, overall, as well as Johto, just have some of my favorite Pokemon.

  34. Soldraig88

Golurk cuz it’s a cool giant robot with iron fists of justice

  35. Cholemeleon

My favorite Pokemon has to be Tangrowth. I think one of the best things that Pokemon always nails is that, at the end of the day, is that any of the Pokemon can look like a friend.

Tangrowth is a big, intimidating, swamp monster of a Pokemon. You can’t see its face besides two beady eyes, and it looks shaggy and unkempt. But, Tangrowth is very round, and has a very laid back disposition. It’s very similar to Snorlax where it finds a perfect balance between big and strong and cute and cuddly. I think Pokemon Snap has done a great job characterizing Tangrowth a lot, too. It has a kind of Studio Ghibli charm where it’s mysterious and bizarre but friendly all the same.

I also love that Tangrowth has many different inspirations, and is a lot more than just a stylized animal with a concept mixed in. Tangrowth is basically a large bush and also resembles a swamp monster, but between it’s long, dexterous arms and shaggy appearance, and the fact it evolves by knowing Ancient Power, also invokes the idea of Gigantopithecus! It’s a subtle design element I really appreciate, where you can see the inspirations but it still feels completely unique.

Side note: Tangrowth is really fun competitively as well. It has very good stats, abilities, and movepool. It’s been powercrept a bit but Tangrowth was a very good defensive pokemon with a lot of handy utility moves a few years back.

Also, Tangrowth and I kind of look similar, so I always thought Tangrowth and I would fit the stereotype of Trainers somehow always looking like their partners. I’m a big, round guy with a curly beard and long, wavy hair. I also wear glasses so a lot of the time my eyes are the most visible thing on my face. I think what led me to liking Tangrowth so much was a throwaway line my friend said about me looking like it.

I could gush about Tangrowth for hours. I could about Tangela too!

  36. RandellX

All of my friends loved Charizard, he was the best one, the best. At the playground no one could beat Charizard. Then the episode with magmar aired. Beat Charizard, Magmar was strong. He immediately became my favorite. Finally someone who was stronger than the one everyone else loves. To this day I even have Magmar tattooed on my arm

I am also collecting every Magmar card known to exist. Not very many people like Magmar but he’s awesome to me.

If you pick me I’ll send you a picture of my self

  37. PuzzleheadedKale3376

Omanyte: he’s just a little guy and I love him

  38. ShiftSilvally

Obstagoon! It has such a diverse movepool, and Galarian Zigzagoon is avalible so early on in SWSH. And it’s also funny that this rockstar raccoon can learn Ice Beam when it’s very obviously a physical attacker, it’s like ‘where does it come from’ and it’s jacketlike fur just helps add to it’s loud but defensive personality, two traits that just mesh well for this Dark/Normal type

I’m a fairly tall caucasian person (More close to a pastey white), short curly brown hair that I cut myself, chocolate brown eyes with blue rimmed glasses usually wearing a hoodie and trackpants or shorts and a tshirt, and I’ll often have a black backpack and black runners, possibly also fingerless gloves of some sort of colour (Always wool ones) or a black sleeveless hooded vest

  39. GhaakPow

My favorite pokemon has always been Umbreon. Mostly because I was very shy as a kid and, because Umbreon evolved at night, I believed it was shy as well.

    Fast forward some 20+ years.

I now own a Umbreon stuffy from the Pokemon store in Japan. I’m very proud of it. It’s one of my prized possessions.

My daughter has a hard time sleeping alone as she gets very scared of the dark. I tell her about how Umbreon’s rings glow at night so that anyone with an Umbreon is never in the dark or alone. She asks if she can borrow my prized Umbreon stuffy to help her sleep. When I look into her eyes, it never even crosses my mind to say no, my daughter has now become more important to me than any Pokemon could ever be.

Her favorite pokemon is now also Umbreon.

Umbreon has been loved by and protecting my family for 2 generations.
